Catriona’s life is spiraling out of control. One minute, she’s a successful investment banker with a flat by the Thames and a healthy bank balance; the next, she’s a famous author. Well, sort of famous. She’s written a femdom novel under a pen name, so nobody actually knows it was her. Her publisher has gone marketing crazy, lauding her book...much to her bewilderment. Especially since she hasn’t done any of the things she wrote about.

On launch day, curiosity gets the better of her, and she goes into a busy London bookstore to queue up for her copy - despite the box of author copies stuffed into the bottom of her wardrobe. There, she meets Elijah. When idle chitchat leads to him admitting he’s interested in female domination, everything changes, and their chance meeting leads to a whole lot more, giving Catriona the opportunity to experience the things she’s previously only fantasized about - not to mention the inspiration she needs to write the sequel for which her publisher is clamoring.

3.5 Stars. The Next Big Thing by Lucy Felthouse is a short light erotic romance. Katarina, who writes under a pen name, is an author who just released an expected best-seller which is the equivalent of 50 Shades of Gray. She ends up going to a bookstore on release day to pick up a copy of her book and runs into the charming Elija who is also there to purchase her book. Of course, he doesn't realize it's actually HER book since she writes under a pen name and introduces herself by her given name. The two strike up a conversation in line and end up going out for drinks after. A month goes by and they have been hooking up. One night Katarina gets an email from her publisher that they are expecting book 2. She immediately starts writing where she left off in her lovers' story. She doesn't realize Elija is behind her and has been reading what she's writing. He is taken aback because Katarina has always been very vanilla, unlike the smut books she writes. To help her write out Book 2, Elija suggests they start trying new things in bed for her to incorporate into her book, eventually leading her to a BDSM club and public sex. Overall it was a steamy story but I ultimately wish it would have been longer.

A short romance / erotic read / listen. Fast paced and intense but with everything you could want in a read / listen. An actual storyline with fun, relatable characters. Smooth flowing storyline - again fast paced a great ending. Loved both our main characters - how they met - their understanding and how they introduced themselves into the D/s world. Great narration - smooth tone and good pitch changes for the characters. Overall - quick but very satisfying!

I listened to the audiobook of The Next Big Thing narrated by Nina Nato

This was a quick spicy satisfying audiobook. It had a great storyline which continued to build. I was a little worried it wouldn’t go to the heights I had expected - the book is about an author who wrote “The Next Big Thing” under an alias, meets man in bookstore and starts exploring the world she had written about, but did it got there and more.

Nina’s narration was great, some of the writing were so wrong coming being read by her, that it made it even hotter.

Well worth a read or listen, if you can’t control your reactions maybe not in public.

I received this audiobook at no-cost through Story Origin. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Catarina goes from writing a bestseller BDSM-themed novel out of fantasy and pent-up frustration to finding a subby boyfriend to make her fantasies real (and to do research to write a sequel book.) Watching Caterina and Elijah explore their mutual BDSM curiosities was both hot and endearing.

This audiobook was a quick, fun listen. I really enjoyed Nina Nato’s narration. Will definitely look for other books she’s narrated.

This my first Lucy Felthouse story, but I doubt it will be my last.
