I really like the male narrator but not his depiction of female voices. I love CJ Bloom but EVERY time I hear a book with her, I go back to Sophie and Neil. Again, that’s not a bad thing, it can can just be funny if it’s a character like this sweet geeky computer nerd and all of a sudden, I’m picturing Neil....
Overall, this story was fun. I liked both main characters and liked the chemistry between them. Makes me almost wish I didn’t have a Mac anymore. I wonder if you can find a guy like Simon at the Genius Bar? I thought that Cassie’s list of kinky situations was a bit quirky but maybe that was because of her lack of experience with kinks.
I enjoy when an author brings a ‘cause’ to their books, like Simon’s sister. I think any time we can highlight and educate, even slightly, we owe others that bit of good. I also think it makes romance books more inclusive when characters who are POC, differently abled, on a large spectrum of sexuality, etc are depicted. I don’t know about other readers but I get tired of perfect beautiful and rich characters all the time. As much as I want to be taken to a new world, I like my worlds grounded in some reality.
Altogether, this was a feel good, HEA story. It was tame enough to listen to while gardening but racy enough that your blush isn’t just from deadheading your roses. I think if the story was slightly longer, some of the secondary characters could have been expanded a bit more to give the story more depth.
I would definitely listen to another story by Tawna Fenske.
