This is my favorite of all the Bertrice Small books. The narration was outstanding. If you are put off by the spice but enjoy the history and detail woven into her stories then this is the one for you.

I am just recently discovering Bertrice Small over the last two years. What a phenomenal author. I see that this was written in 1978. I wish that I had known of her as a young lady. Such entertainment and wisdom of the world would have been so appreciated back then. I can’t even describe this book and the sequel!!
