Publisher's summary

Jeffrey Kuyper was a once-in-a-generation talent and I was his muse.

Jeffrey's death shocked the art world and upended my life. His last portrait is an intimate reminder of our final weeks together. Now it's up for auction and I want it more than anything. When a cold-mannered man in a dark suit outbids me, I'll agree to anything to buy it from him - even a weekend in his bed.

I like the story a lot; narration lingered with me

This story was hot and very powerful, despite being quite short. It has a haunting quality that pulled me in. I wanted to know more about the main characters and with there was more!

Originally, I thought the narration was just okay, it had a stilted, awkward tendency. The vocal pacing and pauses didn't always sound natural. But days later, I realized the raw feelings of the story was amplified by the narrator's style and the story and voice continued to linger in my mind. So I did find the narration a powerful complement to the story.

Narrator was perfect for this story. I hope he

does more, longer books. Good story, nice ending, good job all around. BDSM elements well handled.

a great quick read!

I tried this book as a recommendation so wasn't sure what to expect. It was made brilliant by the narrator. He really captured the 26 yr old submissive who'd just love his Dominant in a car accident and was mourning his loss. His Dom was an artist, and he was the subject of much of his art. Since they hadn't married, he was willing to go broke to win his last piece at an auction. Unfortunately, a rich man buys it and upon asking for it back, the man offers it to him if he spends a weekend as "his". It was so sexy y'all, when I'd been rec'd this book, it was said as one of the best male submissives they'd read. I'm proud to say I can second that. I loved it, nothing felt forced or rushed despite it's 1 hr 28 min time frame. I almost wished their was a sequel!

The narrator made a wonderful job

I listen to the audiobook. I was looking for something short to listen and I really didn’t expect much of the book but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The narration was beautifully done. I got into the story very easily and I think it had a lot to do with the way it was narrated.

It was a lot of emotion in the book. It was easy to feel the grief and I didn’t liked how quick everything went out, but I did enjoy it and liked the emotions behind the words. I liked the BDSM elements of the story, but what I liked the most was how easy it was to get in touch with the main characters feelings, mostly Oliver.

Emotional Kink

A short story with a side of kink. Toby Trail did a very nice job. He really brought out the emotions of grief and lust. This audiobook could've been
another hour at least! Well done. Enjoyed.

Emotional & Steamy short story

Caveat: I don’t actually remember buying this and I didn’t recognize the author or the description and when I started listening, I actually thought it was M/F (despite my prolific M/M collection). Also, pain during play (biting, fisting) isn’t generally my thing.

However, I actually enjoyed the prose, the story, and even the sex. Oliver’s grief is so raw and the transformation over a weekend is amazing.

Narration:
I really liked Toby Trail’s voices for Oliver and The Dark Collector. They were distinct and well done. Unfortunately there was something that felt unpolished about the delivery/production. Mouth noises and odd pauses were the biggest disruption to listening.
