Publisher's summary

When aspirations and passion collide, Breck’s thrown onto a playing field he never anticipated.

Unrivaled in college basketball as a point-guard prodigy, Breck Harland has definitely earned his title as King of the Court. All around town, he’s a bona fide celebrity, his reputation with the ladies reinforcing a facade he's determined to protect. No one, not even his best friend, knows he's bi.

Enter Grandmaster Kai Nakado, the one person not impressed by Breck's imperial air.

When Breck signs up for his martial arts class, Kai makes it clear he finds his new student arrogant, impulsive, unfocused. With each exchange, their clashing chemistry intensifies, and Breck finds himself not just angry and frustrated…but inexplicably turned on. A fire that rages even hotter when Kai introduces him to the art of rope bondage, a talent Kai proves even more skilled at than martial arts.

At the hands of this experienced Dom, Breck's tenuous control threatens to slip from his grasp, the things he thought he wanted suddenly not so clear. If he’s not careful, Kai will completely derail him, a risk he can’t afford if he plans to make it to the pros.

Can he stop what’s already in motion, or will Kai tame the unattainable king?

Tamed, book one in the Courtside King Duology. A steamy, slow-burn, gay romance that will keep you riveted on the sidelines for more.

different pace than the others

so this is the story of Breck and Kai. I loved how it was hinted all the way in Tad story, continued through Sean and Max, and now we get all those snippets from their point of view.

this story definitely had a different pace and vibe than the other two. i guess it relates to Kai vibes, which are amazing. the spicy stuff will come later on (i promise), but the story itself is amazing in itself.

as always, Michael Dean's performance is absolutely amazing.

Love Breck and Kai!

I'm a huge Kora Knight fan and was so excited this series has come to audio. Michael Dean is such a great voice actor and really brings these two men to life as well as the super hot shibari scenes! Getting to see so many characters I love from the Upending Tad series and Dungeon Black Duology and even a reference to Krie Captivity was great! Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Gripping and sexy

Powerful imperfect characters. Kai is mouthwatering! Writing and narration are perfection. I am buying the second book right now.

Good spin-off

Upending Tad was a treat, entertaining and relatable. Societal imposed norms made Tad submerge his true self for a painfully long time. This same crushing expectations continues with one of Tad’s best friend’s, Brett. We met Kai in Tad’s story, and he’s still as delicious sounding as in his initial debut.
Hmmm…. wonder how this spinoff will end?

Loved It, Story and Narration

Wow, this book was full of unresolved $exual tension and so much longing. This was a nice change of pace from Max and Sean's story, not much happening as far as steamy times, well except from very steamy shibari scene, but Brek and Kai have a very interesting and attractive dynamic going on, that it pooled me in in a completely different way. Narrator did a great job telling this story and I am super excited to listen to the next book in this spinoff duology. Highly recommend.

Wow amazing!

Oh I really loved this book and I'm so happy it's a duology because I want more of these characters. Enemies to lovers is such a fun trope, the chemistry between Breck and Kai was explosive. I just loved every interaction between the two of them. I also really liked them as individuals and I felt for them. I can't wait to see how their relationship will evolve and how things are going to work out. The side characters were also fantastic and I want to read their stories too. Beautiful writing, great pacing and wonderful characters. And the narrator did an absolutely fantastic job bringing the story to life. I highly recommend this book.

Yesss

*I highly recommend reading these in order of publication: Upending Tad series, The Dungeon Black Duology, and then this.*

I want to start with how I love how these duologies overlap with the original Upending Tad timeline. We get to see certain scenes from other peoples perspective and I enjoy it immensely. You actually get to find out what those people were thinking.

But seriously. Kai is amazing. I adore him. I love how sensual he is without really even trying. It seems just inherent. And between the martial arts and the shibari… damn.

Seeing Breck’s side of the story is rough. It seems like the typical “driven college kid wanted to go pro”, but it’s also more. And man do I just want him to accept himself and try, but I also understand the world isn’t perfect.

I really appreciate that as soon as they meet, it’s like their mere existence throws them off-kilter. Like the world just changed and they don’t know why or how it happened and now they’re scrabbling to find purchase. And the chemistry… my gods this slow burn is beautiful.

“To win a fight, one must be humble,” Kai pointed out. “Otherwise, we run the risk of underestimating our opponent.”

Now I need the second book…

Also, loved the shout out to Nira!
