Publisher's summary

Felicity Jones has the worst luck in men. Ever since she walked away from her high school sweetheart, she's been in one bad relationship after another. Now, at 28, her current relationship has her rethinking life.... She's pretty sure this guy is the worst of all of them. Left clinging to hope, Felicity prays there's someone out there who will free her from this monster.

Liam Carver has been with the department eleven years - on the SWAT team for six. He's seen his share of bullshit. But this call out is different. This time, it’s someone he knows...someone he loved.

Felicity broke his heart in high school when she went off to college and never looked back. He thought she was the one he'd spend forever with. Since then, he's sworn off relationships, saving himself from anymore heartache. But seeing her again stirs up feelings he thought he'd buried long ago.

Can love heal all wounds, or will darkness keep them from a happily ever after?

Another tough subject for this series

Another tough subject for this series. This time, the story deals with abusive relationships.

Felicity left her hometown and her boyfriend for college ten years ago. She’s back, and her new boyfriend came along. And he doesn’t want to leave. No matter how many times she tells him to. When he shows her who’s the boss, will her ex, working on the force, be able to save her?

There was again a bit too much manicheism for my taste. Between the devoted ex who doesn’t ask for anything from Felicity, and the bastard who bosses her around, the contrast is pretty clear, even blinding. They both are stereotypes more than characters. As for Felicity, she soon becomes a side character of her own story.

But the subject is treated with respect, though in a very explicit way. But it’s understandable, as the reader must feel the horror of Felicity’s situation. The aftermath went a bit too fast though. Even with ellipses, I thought she recovered quickly.

As for the narrator, he annoyed me even more than in the first book. And there are obvious mistakes in the recording that have been kept in the final editing. I’ll probably read more of the series, but not as audiobooks.

Great story and wonderful series so far. Different choices in younger life to present with jobs today. Narrator did a fantastic job also.

Not for me

There was nothing wrong with this book, it just wasn't for me. The main character is an abused woman who seems to put up with it until her partner brings his girlfriend home, then she reacts. She has money and a job. There are no children. I don't even think they are married , there is no reason for her to stay or put up with all she does. People offer to help, she says no. I have a difficult time relating to books like this.

I didn't finish the book.

Liam and Felicity

This is my second book of LC Taylor. I really love her writing. This is not a long story but in contains a heck of a story within the short amount of time. This one dealt with some traumatic events. The author did a great job in not going into too much detail but enough to get the emotions of the situation. She also included the necessary after story involved in situations such as this so not to downplay the severity of the situation. I love their back story and connection so much. One other thing I love about Taylor's writing is she has always included an ending giving us plenty of future with the main characters (which I am a sucker for). Well Done. The narrator did an amazing job.

Trigger warning to assault/rape/domestic

Phenomenal story!

The chemistry between the characters in explosive! This story is definitely an adult read due to the violence but it also very powerful read. I started listening to this audiobook and I couldn’t stop until the end. The storyline is extremely well written and narrated!
The narrator does a fabulous job with the characters and voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between characters. I will definitely recommend this book!
On a personal note, I will be looking to listen to more books by this author and narrator!

Short but powerful!

This is the second book of the Signal Series that I have listened to, and I am loving it. The books are short, but LC Taylor has them full of action, romance and suspense! This one features Felicity and Liam. They were high school sweethearts but Felicity broke it off when she went to college. Now years later, she is in an abusive relationship when Liam's team gets the call. Will he be able to save the one woman he has ever loved? Short, to the point and written just the way I love a book, LC Taylor gives us all the feels in this one. Abuse is a tough subject and she doesn't gloss over it. Liam is your typical alpha, the ones we love, and is fiercely protective and Felicity is incredibly strong with what she goes through. Add in a dad that is full of good advice and this book is a winner.

Narrated by Nicholas Middlekauff, the story comes to life with great voices and incredible emotion. He portrays the characters perfectly, from the abusive boyfriend to the emotional Felicity. It's my first listen by him, and I will definitely be watching for more.

Very good!

Wow! While I loved this it is a bit dark and does have some violent scenes. So if that affects you don’t read this. Otherwise we follow the terrible relationship of Felicity. Liam is her HS love but she knows she doesn’t deserve him. Especially now. She deserves everything Jaxon gives her. Liam has other ideas especially once he see her again. When tragedy happens will she be able to ever accept Liam or love again?

I listened to this on audio. Nicholas Middlekauf is the narrator. He did outstanding. This is my second book in this series and by this author. I enjoyed this even though it has darker scenes in it. While devastating to live through the outcome of this situation is positive. I love the covers on these books!
