Publisher's summary

When you're a demon hunter, you probably shouldn't invite a succubus into your bed....

Blaze is a highly trained astral marine, fighting demons and saving lives, so he should know better than to bed his latest client. And yet, when she puts a hex on him, suddenly women find him irresistible. Even his ex-wife is eyeing him, which is a problem, because she's an evil witch. Literally.

Together, Blaze and Mara form an uneasy alliance with a misfit crew of aliens and monsters to track down demons, snare ghosts, and destroy hellish creatures bent on murder - all while trying to close the gates of hell forever.

There's just one problem. A demon-possessed robot has infiltrated their starship, the Lizzie Borden, and a vicious coven of stellar vampires have stranded them in a graveyard of ships at the edge of known space. All the while, the women on his crew won't leave Blaze alone!

Contains mature themes.

... I've listened to worse.

So let me start with it's not actually bad All affair and of aaron crash I love his amrican dragon books and the war gods saga. but this was... not great. mostly it's just are hero blaze is a complete jackass. honestly I love that his ability to collect sexy bad ass ladies is down to a hex that makes him super alluring inspite of being a jack ass. the dude sucks he sucks alot. I am.pretty much done this this series.

It's a great story but...

The story overall is really good it's just the performer needs just a little bit more emotion in their words

the narrator has no emotion and pauses at random. I wanted to like the book just couldn't git into the story.

A Desent Book

Over all I enjoyed the book most of the characters were wonderful and in the end all of the characters turned out great. But the MC and his Ex-wife the mage of the group were just annoying through most of the book. I understand that they were working through lots of things but I don’t enjoy soap-operas. For me this distracted from a already tense story. The narration excellent and now that they have the drama at least partially worked out I would love to see where the story goes from here.

good story

I thought the story was good and the narrator did a great job. If you have seen a lot y of my other reviews you know I doont critique plot and the finer points. I am just interested in being entertained. diversity in stories and chsracters are important . this was the most unique group of leading characters none of them were normal or did what you might think they should ,but I enjoyed all of them , even Bill . good job thanks ,I will wait the next

Better than it sounds

This series seems like it is meant to be intentionally cheesy. The title of the book and the series are absolutely ridiculous. And come on - wielding fusion nunchuks and fighting robo-vampires? Utterly nonsensical.

But compared to the author's "American Dragon" series, this is actually more sophisticated in many ways. The characters are more emotionally complex. The universe has many secrets, such as ruins of a lost race.

It's enjoyable, and I look forward to more entries in the series in the future.

Crass, macho and extravagant.

This book was probably like nothing I've ever gone through before. Between absolutely ridiculous moments and a harem-incestuous-like arrangement, I could not place it on erotica. It has maybe two solid brief sexual scenes. The story is loopy, the characters are forced archetypes, and it gets to a point where you may be forced to pause to laugh at the sheer nonsense. In all fairness, I'm sure that this is right up someone's alley. Not mine.

As for the narrator, overall she did fine... but she tripped with Spanish dialect words placed in the story without researching how they may sound and it sounds absolutely ridiculous. She also attempted to place personalities on characters through voice, but took it much too far, making some of them sound almost funky. I could not immerse myself at all.

Overall? Okay mostly because of the generous length of the tale. You'll laugh, both at the story and at the sheer unbelievable scenes on it.

Conflicted fan

I’m an old jarhead so this guy pretty much sums my personality up, except for the succubus curse unfortunately. That being said he is just like most of the guys I served with, infantry marines rarely make for good relationships when they haven’t been out of action for a few years. Most of us have at least one divorce and all have us have a common nickname, especially if our exes are asked, ASSHOLE.

That being said, I am usually a huge fan of Mr. Crash’s books but this one seems to have started off in the middle and there’s so much backstory to fill in on the listener’s part that it doesn’t seem as well written as he usually does. The world building was exceptionally light, which is hard to do in a short time with 4 different galactic species, but most of that could have been better with more backstory.

I would like to hear more from this series, but I hope it doesn’t become a prequel to this one. Maybe release a good 0.5 book in this series to make sure we’re not trying to land tail first on the carrier deck.
