Smoke Jensen - A one man judge and jury

They struck in a pack, in the dead of night. They had crept in like thieves, like the cowards they were...but it wasn't robbery they had in mind.

It was something much darker...

Smoke Jensen was buying cattle a hundred miles away from his Colorado ranch when he got the news. Drawing two horses from the remuda, he saddled up, rode off...and didn't stop until he reached his wife's side. She had been shot three times, and lay close to death.

Smoke Jensen knew the outlaws had come to kill him. He wouldn't give them a second chance. He was going after them.

And he wasn't taking any prisoners...

Contains mature themes.

This had to have been written by his niece.

The book comes with a warning of its adult content. Even though it does not carry her name, JA Johnstone, this book is full of all of the violence and sexual nature that she likes to write about. I would almost say X rated. I would imagine Mr. Johnstone was pretty sick or perhaps already had died by the time this book was written. If she’s going to continue to write books I wish she would go back to his way of doing things. I had a hard time with the overall violence. If it wasn’t for the wonderful voice of Mr. Turner I am not sure I would have finished it. The premise was sort of good, but a tad weird.

Captivating

Rarely has a novel held our attention like this one did. We kept it running as much as possible and went cover to cover in two days. Smoke’s next tale is captivating for sure.

Riveting

I love this series. I have been reading books most of my life and listening to them for the past several years. I have several series I like but this one, this one is by far the best I have ever read. All others have taken a back seat as I go on and on with this. The story line, the characters, the narrator are all fabulous!

this has a great story line and the narrator is one of the best in the series of the "Jensen" stories.

Justice at Dead River!

After Bury, Idaho, and Fontana, Colorado, Smoke tried to hang up his guns to be a rancher and farmer. Two years later, the night Raiders changed all that. Smoke was a hundred miles away herding cattle when he heard the news. He raced back home. His wife, Sally was alive but had been shot three times. Sally had heard their names; Daggit, LaPiere, and Moore, gunslicks for Rex Davidson. Sally was also pregnant. When she recovered sufficiently, she boarded a train for the East, for an operation to remove bullet fragments and for the birth of the baby. Disguised as a fancy pants artist, Smoke went looking for his targets, finding them in an outlaw town called Dead River. The outlaws had had their way for years. Torturing, robbing, raping, and looting. Now the tables would be turned. But it’s not over.

Rape, Torture, Sadomasochism

This story pushes all the sexual terror buttons. It's pulp fiction of the lowest order.

And, trying to pass Smoke Jensen off as a hyper-sexualized gay fop is ridiculous and insulting to everyone who might listen to this novel, gay or straight.

Do not purchase this novel and, if it's free, skip it!

Smut

It’s obvious this trash was written by someone other than Mr Johnstone. Mr Turner does a good of narration but that’s the only good thing about this book. Don’t waste your time or money.
