Publisher's summary

When a patch of ice sends attorney Ginger Paulson head-over-high-heels down a flight of stairs, she has no one to care for her young son and her invalid father - until lethally sexy Kane McKay shows up at the hospital, determined to prove his cowboy chivalry. Past experience has inoculated her against take-charge men, but even Ginger isn't immune to Kane's invasive charm and Built-Ford-Tough body.

For two years rancher Kane McKay has followed the Little Buddies mentoring program's cardinal rule - hands off his Little Buddy Hayden's mama. But one look at Ginger's bruised body and Kane is through watching the stubborn woman take care of everyone but herself. The feisty, curvy redhead needs his help, and he'll give her the hands-on type whether she likes it or not.

After Kane throws out doctor's orders and issues his own demands - her full sexual submission - Ginger realizes Kane's caring nature extends beyond just fulfilling her physical needs.

Can the former hell-raiser convince the gun-shy single mom to look beyond his past - toward a shared future?

Warning: Contains one sweet and hot hunk of cowboy manflesh who uses every sexual trick in the book to render a sassy, fast-talking attorney speechless and put a new twist on the term "binding arbitration".

Ginger and Kane

Ginger and her young son moved to Wyoming to take over her father's law practice. Kane was one of the bad boy McKay clan. He cleaned up his act and became a mentor to Ginger's son Hayden through the Little Buddies program. He was rocked by Ginger's intelligence and beauty. Ginger and he were drawn to each other but could not have a relationship while Kane was Hayden's mentor. Good ending.

Kane & Ginger

Kane had enough playing around. He was ready to settle down and have a family. His reputation was never far off being whispered behind hands. He had enough & decided to make a difference in someone’s life. That someone was Hayden Paulson. He helped Hayden find himself and in turn found a part of himself. The cherry on top was Hayden’s mom, Ginger. She was way out of Kane’s league, but the silly woman fell for him anyway. This is a great intro to Jesse & Brant’s book.

Love the writer but not the narrator

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No. I'd recommend reading it instead

How could the performance have been better?

There are too many, too long pauses. It is frustrating. If I speed up the narration the pauses are manageable but the speech is not right. She speaks in spurts and although I love the Rough Riders and the McKays, I don't know if I can stand to listen to any more.

4 Well Developed Stories in One Book +Sexy Read

What did you love best about Raising Kane?

.
Another great installment in the Rough Riders tradition from Laura lie James

Sometimes these books are like chocolate, bad calories but do you just want more.

This story had more than the simple storyline that carries through the romantic scenes. In this there were a couple of stories and I really enjoyed what was included in the plot.

Ginger cares for and lives with her elderly father who is wheelchair-bound. She also cares for and lives with her 8 year old son. Kane (aka Buck) is a part of a Big Brother program to Ginger's son. After Ginger take a fall down the stairs, Kane realizes that she cannot take care of her household alone with her injuries, so he moves in with them.

The intertwining stories of Ginger's father and his issues, along with her complicated relationship with the Kane, and the relationship with the Kane and her son, Hayden.

It all intertwined and made sense, giving a "realistic" and believable story. If only we all had a cowboy to come and save us – that's why I put realistic and quotation marks.

As always Rebecca Estrella is o.k. narrator, but if I listen to it on normal speed she would've driven me crazy. She is an adequate narrator at 1.2 5X she becomes even better

Notes: Descriptions of sex (BDSM) & strong language

Credit worthy/$: These books are relatively inexpensive compared to others. However, I love this series and could not wait for a sale to come up,so I used one of my credits. If you have the patience to wait for a sale, by all means do it. But I love this series and do not mind shelling out the credits as soon as a new release comes around.

Oh my

I love the entire Rough Riders series. The story deserved a 5 star rating but the narrorator was horrible. She had a horrible speah pattern, stopped at the weirdest places and sounded like she was robotic. I am solo disappointed I didn't buy the book so I could have really enjoyed the story. I bought two audibles in the series I am praying its not narrirated by the same person. If so um just going to leave it as unread.

98% romantic western, 2% violence

I enjoyed about 98% of Kane's story, particularly how he volunteers to spend time with boys who need positive male attention. Kane meets Ginger, a single mother with an invalid father, through her young son. Ginger is a dedicated mother and daughter who lacks self respect.

It was amusing when Kane tried to to help Ginger as she heals from an accident, but all too soon he turns into a jerk who thinks it's sexy to dominate and abuse women. As a lawyer, Ginger should recognize the early signs of domestic abuse and tell Kane to hit the road.

Does Ginger really want Kane to teach her son that hurting women is acceptable behavior?
Without his "Alpha male/asshole behavior", Raising Kane would have been an excellent erotic romance. The Lorelei James is extremely talented with a great sense of humor.
