Loved it, Cliffhanger and all

I'm literally d*ing here! I've been meaning to read the last two books in the series for months, but I have so many books on my list, they keep getting shuffled around, so I was ecstatic to see the audiobook was finished for "Losing Aiden" and I devoured it... and then 10 seconds. Lacey is ki**ing me!

Alright, emotional meltdown complete. I will reiterate that I LOVE this series. I don't like cheating (which this series starts HARD on), but I love this series! I love it because it's real and emotional and raw, and all the actions/reactions of the characters involved are believable, and logical (even Nate's actions, as confusing as they are for him, make perfect sense from a psychological standpoint). Of course, not everyone will have the same reactions to these things, but in this world which Lacey has created, it all works and makes sense for THESE characters. And with this installment, she's done it yet again with making the emotional turmoil, actions/reactions, anguish, confusion, and frustration so believable and relatable. I love how everyone got their feelings chapter and their actions chapter, but I'm feeling my own frustrations at waiting for the conclusion to this story. I'm hoping it's at least a 260 pages long at this point!.

Awesome Read. Excellent characters. I'm sitting here thinking wth. That ending was mean. I need more. I'm tingling with excitement because it can't be over....

Losing Aiden Illicit Desires, Book 8

Aleks Esquire does an excellent job narrating.

This one starts off with everyone twisted and knotted up with some mixed emotions and confusion. Emily, Nate, and Aiden definitely have some things to work out. But how can these three stay apart for any length of time? I think they are way too magical all together, to let that happen.

Is All Lost?

Communication is the most important thing to Aiden. When the truth comes out about Nate knowing about the affair between Emily and Aiden from the beginning, Aiden breaks things off with the couple. Emily was more worried about losing Aiden than she was about what she put her husband through in the beginning. This puts some distance between Emily and Nate and they end up sleeping in separate rooms.

All 3 are miserable, distracted, and angry. Aiden takes time off from work. His stomach feels like it is all in knots and twisted. Nate talks to his mom about what is going on and decides he needs to talk to Emily and make things right. When Emily walks in on him pleasuring himself, she loses it again and turns all dom on him. Working things out between them, they work on figuring out how to get Aiden back in their lives.

Aiden, Emily, and Nate

Story: The trio, Aiden, Emily, and Nate are all struggling with their emotional losses after their break-up and even those around them know that something dark and painful is overwhelming them. Aiden is going through his pain on his own with the help of ice cream. Emily and Nate are existing in the same house but going out of their way to avoid one another. Just when things seem at their darkest for Emily and Nate, their passion and love for one another help them break through their impasse, but then the issue is whether or not Aiden is a part of their future. This part of Aiden, Emily, and Nate’s story was much more focused on the emotional aspect of their relationship, but it just really fleshed out the depth of their feelings for one another.

Audio: Narrator Aleks Esquire does a good job with Aiden and Nate’s voices, and an okay job with Emily’s and Nate's mother's voices. Though I understand in a shorter work why only one narrator might be used, my personal preference is to have a male narrator for male voices, and a female one for female voices - the single narrator just takes me out of the characters a bit, and having already read the books, is less likely to reflect the way that I already hear the characters sounding. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.

Don't Stop There!

I was so excited to see book 8 come up in audiobook format! I was lucky in that when I discovered this series, the first six books were already on audio so I could listen to them all at once. I listened to book 7 a little over three months ago and was just wondering last week when book 8 would come out. (Getting antsy!)

I liked that this book deals with Aiden, Nate, and Emily all processing their grief over the fallout from the breakup. Each handled it in their own way. I liked that it began from Aiden's point of view, and he seemed the most hurt over the consequences. I admit, Emily still upsets me. I see her explosive anger issues as violent and controlling and don't find that "power control" sexy or empowering and think she needs therapy, but that's just me. Where this book ended... I need the next one! Come on Aleks! Give it to us!

Aleks Esquire once again does such a great job here. This may be a short one-hour book, but I find myself impressed that he does different voices for Aiden, Nate, Emily, Zane, and Nate's mom and I can tell who each character is without them being named. That takes talent. Though I can admit it was Aiden's voice that made this series a must-listen for me after I'd initially listened to a preview. I don't read cheating books, but that voice, as well as this being a MMF cinched it for me.

Wearing the Pants

I like that Emily and Nate struggle with where things ended in the last installment. This isn't a sweet addition but plenty of things come to light. Nate's mom proves to be more insightful than he ever imagined. It's actually comical.

As for Aiden, all is not well in his world either. I appreciate that it's just a hard for him. There's only the finale left. I'm looking forward to seeing how things turn out for this trio.

I listened to the audio. The narrator is Aleks Esquire. He does a great job with Aiden's Dom and submissive Nate. He is also a good choice for Emily.
