Cody Montrose is about to lose his virginity during a one-night (more accurately a one-hour) stand in a seedy motel when the hookup is interrupted by three men who abduct him...to the year 2060. His captors reveal that mankind will soon be extinct because of the mutated HIV virus. But perhaps a risky plan to send the ideal test subject back in time to California, to the year 1983 where the deadly strain first occurred, might work. Cody finds himself asked to impersonate Lance, a big-di--ked, blond porn star of the era. Carrying an experimental nanocell that is hoped to innoculate anyone he has sex with, Cody plunges into the world of porn and hustling, sleeping with a who’s who of gay porn stars and famous actors, including co-star Leo Ford. Can Cody save the world without drastically altering the course of history?

Now let’s get to the good part.... The narration.
Jason Frazier rocked it. The different voices he narrated, I legitimately thought were done by different people. They were all very distinguishable.

#2 - The story is a great take on actual people and events of the 1980s mixed with some pretty good science fiction writing. For those of us in our late teens and early 20s during the book's time frame, this book was a delightful blast from the past and a walk down memory lane. Some of the video stars mentioned were favorites of mine and I still have video clips of them after converting all of my VHS tapes to a digital format about ten years ago. Even if I hadn't done that, one can find almost anything online these days. I was impressed with the authors apparent research on the topic. Trying to find info on the author has been a bit tricky as other than the book reviews, there isn't much about him personally. Although, from what I found in his bio on Smashwords. Given his life experience and world travel adventures, I suspect we are the same general demographic and perhaps his research of Lance and Leo was more a sentimental trip to the 1980s. Or it could have been a 'What ever happened to so and so?' research project that morphed into a novel.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was what is the inevitable problem with time most any time travel story. Once the past is changed nobody remembers or knows what you did to make the present the way it is - which (likely) ultimately solved a significant problem. All the work, none of the glory. Although, I must admit, I do not believe I would be complaining too much considering the work Cody was assigned..
I found it to be greatly entertaining and look forward to reading (listening to) more of Aalto's books. I will also be shopping for books narrated by Frazier.
#3 - If I could only get Frazier to call and wake me each morning - every day would be a great day! Sigh ...
Fascinating tale of 80s reality meets sci-fi
