Julian and Emilia are kismet spirits-meant to be together from the start. Like most relationships, the fire puts off less heat, and the pulse begins to run shallow. When their lust doesn't serve as their defibrillator anymore, the only thing left in their bond is resentment, memory, and dead weight.

Extremely unsettling! Julian and Emilia met in high school and Julian was immediately drawn to her. She’d sank her claws in deep and he refused to struggle against her grasp. Both come from very troubled backgrounds, but Emilia’s struggle is dark. Even leaving bodies in her wake, Julien cannot help but love her with his entire soul.

I read this book in its physical form a few weeks back, and really enjoyed it then. The addition of narration, however, has enhanced the story, and I feel like I was able to see things more clearly this time around. Maybe because I knew what was going to happen so I was able to go into it more critically, or whatever, but the voice actor really added an extra level of depth to a story already so incredibly layered! Phenomenal book, amazing voice, and amazingly immersive!

Extremely unsettling

Gotta say, at times I had to step away. That is not a bad thing. The story was intense but captivating. Incredibly well written. I was still chewing on the story when the afterword began, and everything clicked into place. I know this mind that was described. Great book, great listen. Well worth the time. Great work.

crazy good work

I’m not normally one to listen to this type of stuff so holy cow was this a freaking trip! And the reader!? Oh my gosh. The chaotic speed and hectic nature with the constant spikes in intensity kept me not only confused as to what could possibly come next but weirdly excited to hear about the next horrific thing that was going to happen. It felt like I was a kid again on the internet unsupervised.

Chaos incarnate.
