Lachlan: I’m not having the greatest year, or maybe it’s the best year of my life. It depends on the day. I’ve been on chemo for APL and that’s over but it takes time to recover. My hair’s growing back but I’m still too thin. Now my family has a new scare that could possibly ruin my dad—but that’s how I met Ben. I wouldn’t have met my Daddy without that family trouble.
I still have my student lab job at Stanford and think I’ll have it all the way through my doctorate. If I can focus on school and work and not on family’s problems or too much on Ben.
I feel unsettled and it feels good to rely on Daddy, but Ben’s also a Dom and I’m questioning everything we do. When Ben runs off claiming all that travel is for business, I get jealous. And that’s all before all the shapeshifting stuff come into play. I’m being torn in too many directions and I’m unsure where to land.

Ben: I have an idea about how to approach everything in life but not when it comes to Lachlan. My boy is a brilliant scientist in the making, and he’s a mess. Coming up with ways to help him relax, enjoy life, and not only thrive but shine is going to take a lot of time and discovery. I’m making a lot of mistakes. If only I’d stop making comparisons and relying on the past for solutions. They don’t work with Lachlan. I can’t trust the past, only the present. It’s time to head in that direction.
