Amos Decker's life changed forever - twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.
Well written!! Book moves along quickly and kept me awakwle long passed my bed time. lol
The author presents a collection of seven short stories set in the Outlander universe, never before published together, including two original stories and featuring beloved character Jamie Fraser.
Loved this collection of stories. I'm thinking about re reading the whole outlander series again now.
The spring of 1824 is a challenging one for the inhabitants of Paradise N.Y. when a flood devastates the village. But for Nathaniel and Elizabeth Bonner, it's also a time of reunion as their children return from far-off places: Lily and her husband from Italy, and Martha Kirby, the Bonners ward, from Manhattan. Although Lily is nursing her own grief, it is Martha, fleeing a crushing humiliation, who brings with her trouble that will reverberate in all their lives.
This was a great series and I was sorry to see it end. Well written and perfectly preformed.
With epic sweep and breathtaking adventure, Sara Donati's best-selling saga of an Early American family's struggle for survival in the Northeast wilderness continues with the story of an indomitable woman and an unforgettable journey of redemption across a young nation threatened by the flames of war.
I am obsoletely loving this series. Sara Donati is one if by favorite authors. can't wait to read the next book.
It is the spring of 1802, and the village of Paradise is still reeling from the typhoid epidemic of the previous summer. Elizabeth and Nathaniel Bonner have lost their two-year-old son, Hannah's half brother Robbie, but they struggle on as always: the men in the forests, the twins Lily and Daniel in Elizabeth's school, and Hannah as a doctor in training, apprenticed to Richard Todd. Hannah is descended from healers on both sides and her reputation as a skilled healer in her own right is growing.
This series just keeps getting better. I can't wait to start the next book to see where it takes the reader.
Miss Prudence Canton loves her quiet life in the country, caring for her ailing father and their beloved horses. She's become adept at fending off the advances of gentlemen until a bold stranger named Lord Woodleigh makes a visit to the stables. For a brief moment lust takes over, but Prudence's father, and his gun, find them before things get out of hand. Now, in order to pay for those stolen kisses, Lord Woodleigh is forced to find a husband for the woman whose reputation he himself nearly ruined.
Great story but... way too short :( I could have seen all different kinds of scenarios for this story.
Technology and insanity combine to create a very bad week for the United States and the world. In this unputdownable thriller from breakout author Jerry Hatchett, tech celebrity Matt Decker is on top of the world until his flagship creation, the system that runs the U.S. power grid, suffers a crippling cyber attack. Chaos follows as a ruthless maniac sets out to create his own version of Revelation's battle of Armageddon. And he's making it personal as he blames Decker for the escalating disasters that stretch from New York to Israel to the "sulfurous scarps of hell."
Great fast action with an even better narrator. Highly recommend. I can see myself listening to this one again.
Weaving a vibrant tapestry of fact and fiction, Into the Wilderness sweeps us into another time and place...and into the heart of a forbidden, incandescent affair between a spinster Englishwoman and an American frontiersman. Here is an epic of romance and history that will captivate readers from the very first page.
Loved this first book and can't wait to start the next. I was so excited to read a review that said 'if you're missing the Outlander series' , well this one does start filling the void quite nicely. Well performed and a good story line. Very entertaining with a touch of humor that will even make you find yourself laughing on an occasion.
This title also appears as a novella in the collection “Lord John and the Hand of Devils.” New York Times best-selling author Diana Gabaldon, beloved for her immensely popular Outlander series, crafted this fast-paced tale of intrigue when asked to contribute to an anthology honoring the late, great Ellis Peters. Outlander supporting player Lord John Grey investigates the death of a red-haired man only to become mixed up in the affairs of Sir Francis Dashwood and his notorious Hellfire Club. And as Lord John digs further, his life becomes threatened.
Except the story was way too short and disjointed. The whole time you're trying to figure out what was before. A bit disappointed.
Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....
This book was a total surprise to me. I was searching around for something a little different and found this in the 2 for 2 deal. WOW loved the story and can't wait to start the next book.
