Doug Stanhope is one of the most critically acclaimed and stridently unrepentant comedians of his generation. What will surprise some is that he owes so much of his dark and sometimes uncomfortably honest sense of humor to his mother, Bonnie.

Never expected this! Had only heard Stanhope a couple of times. Got the book cause I needed some comedy to listen to while I run. First chapter almost turned me off but it was like a 10-car pile up and I couldn’t turn away. Couldn’t put the book down ran 25 miles this week! Such a genuinely honest story of a boy and his mother. Touched and touching! Great job! Mother would definitely be proud!

Lots of stories that just made me smile. I’m two years older than the author so many of her childhood stories reminded me of things from the 70’s that I had forgotten. These stories are a great reminder that we are all a lot more alike than we are different and we should treat each other as friends regardless if language or nationality. Really enjoyed this book and I’m hoping she has other stories that I intend to seek and find.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

Dish up the red meat, eggs, and whole milk! In this well-researched and captivating narrative, veteran food writer Nina Teicholz proves how everything we've been told about fat is wrong. For decades, Americans have cut back on red meat and dairy products full of "bad" saturated fats. We obediently complied with nutritional guidelines to eat "heart healthy" fats found in olive oil, fish, and nuts, and followed a Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits, vegetables, and grains. Yet the nation's health has declined. What is going on?

Interesting topic but it sounded like he was pacing on stage and the sound guy couldn't keep up with him. Loud then almost inaudible. I listen while I run sometimes and this wasn't worth the effort. I was constantly adjusting the volume then getting my ears blasted. I'll stick to listening to books and never purchase a "talk" again!
