Here is one of the world's most hallowed works of sacred literature, the grand, sweeping epic of the divine bowman and warrior Rama and his struggles with evil, power, duplicity, and avarice. The Ramayana is one of the foundations of world literature and one of humanity's most ancient and treasured ethical and spiritual works. Includes an introduction by scholar Michael Sternfeld.
Ramayana is an epic. It's one of the most wonderful simple epics that one can read. And one can listen to.
Sadly, the narrator here is toneless, without inflection and robotic.
There is no emotion or understanding of the story. It's as if the narrator was bored to death reading it and is trying to bore us to to death with her narration.
Worse narration. Avoid this narrator.

When Capt. Nate Leathers is taken prisoner by Iraqi insurgents, he thinks things can't get any worse than that. But when he escapes, the city of Basra is covered in green fog and besieged by nightmarish monsters.
The real story starts off slowly and builds up the suspense.
It leaves a lot of questions unanswered and subject to interpretation by the reader. And that is good.
Tightly written and narrated with the intent of author.
When Grace Ozmian, the beautiful and reckless daughter of a wealthy tech billionaire, first goes missing, the NYPD assumes she has simply sped off on another wild adventure. Until the young woman's body is discovered in an abandoned warehouse in Queens, the head nowhere to be found. Lieutenant CDS Vincent D'Agosta quickly takes the lead. He knows his investigation will attract fierce scrutiny, so D'Agosta is delighted when FBI Special Agent A. X. L. Pendergast shows up at the crime scene assigned to the case.
The authors are back ! This book is more terrifying than even Cold Vengeance.
And iam glad Pendergast is alive and together with his love.
When Dan McCarthy stumbles upon a folder containing evidence of the conspiracy to end all conspiracies - a top-level alien cover-up - he leaks the files without a second thought. The incredible truth revealed by Dan's leak immediately captures the public's imagination, but Dan's relentless commitment to exposing the cover-up and forcing disclosure quickly earns him some enemies in high places.
Brilliantly written and completely plausible. Attention to details , people factor are brilliant. Wonder if the author is a psychologist.
Everyone's favorite snarky, dangerous, idealistic, relentless covert operative is back, and this time he's brought friends. Joe Ledger: Unstoppable presents original short stories about Joe Ledger and the Department of Military Sciences by some of New York Times best seller Jonathan Maberry's "friends in the industry".
Although I didn't hear any action with joe ledger and Agent Franks.
It would have been nice.
In keeping with his trademark style, Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code and Inferno, interweaves codes, science, religion, history, art, and architecture in this new novel. Origin thrusts Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon into the dangerous intersection of humankind's two most enduring questions - and the earthshaking discovery that will answer them.
Some things were predictable. Like the King. Overall nothing ground shaking like the first book.
More like a rehash and recycling.
Not buying anymore.

It has been 14 years since the Martians invaded England. The world has moved on, always watching the skies but content that we know how to defeat the Martian menace. Machinery looted from the abandoned capsules and war machines has led to technological leaps forward. The Martians are vulnerable to earth germs. The army is prepared. So when the signs of launches on Mars are seen, there seems little reason to worry. Unless you listen to one man, Walter Jenkins, the narrator of Wells' book.
Pace varies suddenly. No inflection at times. More emotional inflection at times than is required.
Monotonous approach to reading the book. Am returning it.
When Monster Hunter International's top hunter, Owen Zastava Pitt, was given a tip about some hunters who had gone missing in action, he didn't realize their rescue mission would snowball into the single biggest operation in MHI's history. Their men are being held prisoner in a horrific nightmare dimension, and the only way to reach them is through the radioactive ruins of a monster-infested war zone. As if that wasn't bad enough, it's also the home base of the powerful creature behind the devastating attacks on the Last Dragon and Copper Lake.
Story went well until author derailed it. Add to that skipped text and sometimes disjointed chapters.

After a harrowing otherworldly confrontation on the shores of Exmouth, Massachussetts, Special Agent A.X.L. Pendergast is missing, presumed dead. Sick with grief, Pendergast's ward, Constance, retreats to her chambers beneath the family mansion at 891 Riverside Drive - only to be taken captive by a shadowy figure from the past. Proctor, Pendergast's longtime bodyguard, springs to action, chasing Constance's kidnapper through cities, across oceans, and into wastelands unknown....
Spoiler alert: Diogenes caused the almost death of pendergast. Because he loves constance. She doesn't. But she makes him believe so, to break him. And she does. Pendergast had sworn a blood path to kill Diogenes because he had killed decker. But pendergast is forced to break that path, thus making his relationship with his superior in FBI, broken. The twists and turns are stunning.
When marine private Oliver Chadwick Gardenier is killed in the marine barrack bombing in Beirut, somebody who might be Saint Peter gives him a choice: Go to heaven, which, while nice, might be a little boring, or return to earth. The Boss has a mission for him, and he's to look for a sign. He's a marine: He'll choose the mission. Unfortunately, the sign he's to look for is "57". Which, given the food services contract in Bethesda Hospital, creates some difficulty. Eventually it appears that God's will is for Chad to join a group called Monster Hunters International.
Brilliant background story. Mono ken and Chad. Brilliant as always and Larry rocks. I place it on same level as pendergast series and Joe Ledger series.
