Falling down is an accident. Staying down is a choice. Going down is a career-changer...that's the one I did. How was I supposed to know that the NHL's toughest enforcer, the Red Wings' laundry room, and one security video would be my downfall? I've spent more time in the penalty box than any other player in the NHL, but this time I really screwed up. How was I supposed to know that one night and one choice would be worse than all of my transgressions on the ice? Now, I've lost my team, my sponsors, and my publicist. For most people, it's bend or break. For me, it's melt or harden.

Zoe and Andre have a past and have been apart since last year when everything fell apart. Andre was traded to Boston and Zoe ends up in Boston trying to get her career back. They are forced to work together and try to stay apart physically. Even though this is a hockey story, you don't have to know anything about hockey. Maria Luis writes with humor and I was laughing out loud in places. The couple end up getting a second chance together and then another set back. This is a wonderful story!

It's the dead of winter on Gansett Island, and Riley McCarthy's mood matches the lousy weather as he and his family work to bring their new business, McCarthy's Wayfarer, back to life. He can't deny that he's been in a funk since Nikki Stokes and her twin sister, Jordan, left the island last fall without saying good-bye.

I loved this story of Riley and Nikki. They met in the fall when he went to fix Nikki's grandmother's leaking roof. Due to problems with Nikki's twin sister, they left without leaving word where they were going. Riley had no way of getting in touch with Nikki since they had only met 2 times. When Nikki comes back to Gansett, Riley immediately goes to see her. They do have a connection and work on it throughout the book. I really like seeing where the other couples are in their relationships and what's going on. It's like catching up with old friends. I can't wait for the next book in the series to see who it is about and what has happened with the rest of the people on Gansett! I like listening to Joan Delaware's narration. Marie Force always writes with humor and compassion.

Who knew my brother's friend could be Mr. Right, and not just Mr. Right Now? My brother refused to introduce me, so I blame him. If he'd just caved, and introduced me to Jasper, I wouldn't be in this mess. I mean, really, what's the big deal? I'm not interested in the guy's looks. Oh no, I want his cold hard cash. (Be honest, you were expecting that other four letter ‘c' word weren't you?) Now, before you go getting all judgy, I'm not a gold digger. I have a legitimate business opportunity for Jasper to invest in. The problem is that my stick-up-his-ass brother is embarrassed that his twin sister invents kick ass sex toys. His problem, not mine.

Lennon's story is just as great as Whitney and Tahlia's. This is the final story in the Modern Love series but you can listen to them in any order. Lennon needs financing for new business. Her brother won't introduce her to his mentor and she decides to meet him in a bar not knowing what he looks like. It ends up being a speed dating meeting. When Lennon and Jasper meet, it's electric. Jasper decides that he'll have his partner invest in her business but doesn't know that she had been there to get him to invest. That omission will cause problems down the road. Will Lennon get her happily ever after like her friends? I really enjoy Molly Mermelstein's narration and of course, Piper Rayne's writing. I can't wait for the next series!

Little does he know that he'll end up trying to protect Marissa against the producers of the show when they try to put her in danger for ratings. Sam's brother tries to warn her off from Sly because he thinks Sly is still a player. Just as they're making progress in their relationship, Sly's ex-fiance shows up having problems with her husband and needing Sly's help. Will Sly be able to walk away from his ex when she needs help and lose Sam? That's what he has to work out. I liked catching up with other couples from previous books. You don't have to read the others first since Jean Joachim gives some helpful background info about the other couples. I like Jim Roberts' narrations, too.

Jackson "The Beast" Boudreaux is rich, gorgeous, and unbelievably rude to the staff at Chef Bianca Hardwick's New Orleans restaurant. Bianca would sooner douse herself in hot sauce than cook for Jackson again, but when he asks her to cater his fundraiser, Bianca can't refuse, knowing the cash will help pay her mother's medical bills. Then Jackson makes another outrageous request: Marry me. The unconventional offer includes an enormous sum - money Bianca desperately needs, even if it does come with a contract - and a stunning ring.

I enjoyed the laugh out loud banter between them and I'm glad no one was close to hear me when I was listening. I've read the reviews criticizing the narration but I loved them. I enjoyed Diana Luke's accent and even though Sebastian York didn't use an accent -- well, just listening to Sebastian York is always enjoyable! This is the story of Cait and Brian who have been married for 12 years. As Rachelle Ayala explains at the beginning of the book, every person with Autism shows different aspects of it. Brian has Autism but hasn't technically been diagnosed with it. He has problems when in a large group of people and the noise gets too much for him. This is a problem since Cait is from the large Hart family. He doesn't always show up at family gatherings. The Hart family doesn't understand why he hasn't shown Cait his love for her like the other fiances do by sending her flowers, etc. Cait and Brian each have secrets that started from the reasons they got married. I love how the story brings more understanding about Autism and the growth that Cait and Brian have in their relationship. Rachelle does another wonderful job with the Hart family story and I look forward to the next one. These are all standalone books but it's always nice to read the others. I think Jennifer Groberg's narrations of the Hart books is great.
