What if Jane Austen's most notorious character, Lady Susan Vernon, paid a special visit to Lady Catherine de Bourgh at her grand estate of Rosings Park? Her arrival inadvertently occurs right after Elizabeth Bennet has rejected Mr. Darcy's botched proposal, and the saddened gentleman catches the eye of London's most infamous flirt. The fun begins as Lady Susan plots to sever Darcy from Elizabeth, and claim him for herself. We all know she can't possibly win his heart, but it is a bit of a giggle to watch her try.

During his stay at Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, Darcy learns of a tragedy that befell the Bennets, a family from a neighboring estate, over a decade prior. One of the Bennet daughters vanished in broad daylight from the streets of Lambton. Will Darcy unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the second-born Bennet daughter?

I have the print version, but I love most of the audible versions more. Pearl Hewitt makes ms dixon said story come alive for me.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lady Elizabeth?

I believe it was when she found out who she really was . That scene with Jane was electric .

Which character – as performed by Pearl Hewitt – was your favorite?

The 2 I like the best was the Duke and Elizabeth. .

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Will their love survive status difference ?

Any additional comments?

The ending was so surprising. Already put the next on my wish list !!

Would you listen to The Illegitimate Heir again? Why?

Yes. Once the story established itself, it was hard to stop listening to .

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Illegitimate Heir?

Not to make a spoiler , but it was when Richard understood and forgive his mother.

Which character – as performed by Basil Sands – was your favorite?

Richard, without a doubt

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Richard comforted his new sister. The compassion he showed was so gentle so loving.

Any additional comments?

At first I was " put off" by the woman's voices by mr sands. They tended to be the same. The men's voices were excellent and with different nuances for the male characters.

Once I was caught up in the story, nothing mattered but the story.

I highly recommend this !!
