An orphan girl and an orphan shape shifter meet and go through life in a new town that has many strange people but hide some of them. There is family, growing up, murder, love and revenge. If you want aa different take on the paranormal then this is a good one to listen to. The narrator was very good and moved the story along very well.
Diverse, dark-humored, and deliciously bite-sized, this compelling collection of 12 short stories by JT Lawrence include: "Escape" - A story about about a suicidal baby who knows he was born into the wrong life, and has to get creative to correct the mistake, much to his mother's horror; "The Itch" - An intense, uncontrollable, unexplainable itch lands the protagonist in a mental institution.

The first story was like that. The last story just did not make sense at all to me. I listened to it then had to go back and do it again. But if you want to listen to some strange stories that will make you wonder what just happened. They are a nice rainy day listen. The narration was performed well and there were no breaks in the story.
Gabrielle's shy twin sister is betrothed to a heathen prince from the far north. A Viking! Francesca would not survive the journey north much less the frozen wilderness of her new home. The only way Gabrielle can save her delicate sister is to take her place. Together the twins create a web of deceit that quickly spins out of control leaving a trail of death in its wake. Gabrielle is the elder twin and heir to the throne. Francesca was second born by a matter of minutes, but those critical minutes were enough to label her the spare heir and she felt it every day.

The heroine was just too flighty for me.and the hero was timid, then strong, then mean, then the true hero. Who gets attacked in an office and rather than calling the police run home with bruises and say I am going back to work for the guy? He is so much taller, stronger, and meaner yet she says she can handle him. Then the hero tells her to stay home and he will handle it. All of the male voices sounded female. There is a nice story here but
On the surface, Mildred Abbott is a proper Regency miss. But secretly compromised, she longs to explore the pleasures of the flesh. Engaged to an uninspiring sycophant, she asks the influential nephew of her patroness in debauchery to interfere and break her engagement. When her appeals to him fail, she decides to take a singular opportunity--a visit to the Chateau Debauchery--to experience one night of pleasure before she submits herself to a life of wedded dullness.

The story starts there and ends there. We get to experience all of the things she did. It ends on what could be a cliffhanger of sorts. The narration had so many repeated sentences that I was sure the editing needed to catch. If you want a lot of sex and little plot then this is the book for you.
Giovanni DeRose only came back to Las Vegas to work with his brothers in the legendary family tattoo studio. Instead, he’s found himself the leader of a sinking ship, thrown together with a gorgeous woman who won’t back down. But with the threat of closure if he doesn’t turn a profit ASAP, working alongside her may be his only option.
I listened to the other books in the series before this one but that did not take away from the story. Gio is one of the brothers who owns the tattoo parlor that this story is centered around. The hero and heroine hate each other out loud but are attracted to each other in their thoughts. Well, guess what happened? Not sure, take a listen to find out what really happened. The story was intriguing and funny. I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.
Sick of heartbreak, Kate decides to devote her life to making fine chocolates and forget about relationships altogether. But when she opens a gourmet chocolate shop across the street from a deli run by a handsome Italian, she discovers she's not the only one dishing out temptation. Gio wants to help Kate overcome her fears about love, but his big, boisterous Italian family gets in the way.
What can go wrong when chocolate is involved? Well, let's see ghost and a mystery that concludes with a romance. The narrator was not that great to me and there were some very cheesy moments in the story. She is on a ladder and suddenly he is there to catch her even though when she started to fall he was across the street. Well, listen for yourself and decide. This set of stories was appropriately named. It is a set of short stories that are made for days when you really want to listen to something but don't have time for an integrated story. Some of them are not so good while others were just interesting. Some of them are good. I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.
This AudioFile Earphones Award-winning recording of Alison Larkin's best-selling autobiographical novel about an adopted English woman who finds her birth parents and herself in the US is followed by an exclusive interview with the author. In addition to being a best-selling novelist and comedienne, Alison Larkin is also the award-winning narrator of over 200 audiobooks.
I was not a fan of this story at the beginning but as I listened to it and got over the foul language, I really got into the story. The heroine is adopted but although loved she still feels the need to find her real parents. She creates many characters to represent them but nothing beats the actual. The narrator added the emotions but many times she sounded like an American trying to speak British English. Most times she was in character so this did not distract from the story. The end was interesting though. I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.
Mary Ann Carpenter, housemaid to Wonderland's White Rabbit, misses all the action when Alice drops into town. She has her own problems. As witness to the murder of her estranged father, Mary Ann must go under-underground to learn more about the man she barely knew and the motives for his death. But the more she discovers, the more M-words keep coming. Like magic mirrors, monsters, mistaken identity, and a murderer who is the mysterious manservant to the Queen of Hearts.
The narrator and author did a great job of creating a mystery from a familiar fairy tale. Mary Ann does Alice proud. This is a funny mystery based on Alice in Wonderland. The story took several twists but made it a different story. Great use of humor. I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review.
