In a small Arizona town, a man counts his blessings: a loving wife, two teenage daughters, and a job that allows him to work at home. Then "The Store" announces plans to open a local outlet, which will surely finish off the small downtown shops. His concerns grow when "The Store's" builders ignore all the town's zoning laws during its construction. Then dead animals are found on "The Store's" grounds. Inside, customers are hounded by obnoxious sales people, and strange products appear on the shelves.

It was my second Bentley Little book and the verdict is still out on if I like his work or not. It's definitely not as gory as others have reviewed it, but has its parts ( incest) which are bad. It's not spooky enough for my liking (true Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Joe Hill fan) but I'll keep trying. I just enough avoid book with a purpose and this was all out weird... Kinda of what if Sam Walton was a vampire psycho and tried to take over the world through Walmart. I kept asking myself, why the hell are they just putting up with that and not leaving.

Nineteen years ago, Indiana police found the body of a young girl, burned beyond recognition and buried in the woods. They arrested George Calhoun for murdering his daughter, and his wife testified against him at the trial. George maintains he didn’t do it. That the body isn’t his little Angelina. But that’s all he’s ever said—no other defense, no other explanation. The jury convicted him. Now his appeals have been exhausted, and his execution is just six weeks away.

I didn't expect to like this story, but it was great. I'm not a big lawyer mystery type but fell in love with Dany and her team and their drive to save the innocent. I like the narrator as well. I'll read the second book of this. Good job.

So I forced myself to finish listening to this. I'm not a suspense wrapped in romance person, so this was a struggle. Story was ok, a lot of hanging pieces. Couldn't tell if it's was present day or past at times; this could be totally the narrator voice. It was sensual but one tone for all characters, thus the confusion of who was talking. Don't think I'll stick with this author or series.

Truly enjoyed this book. The narrator I'm coming to love his voice in several books I've listened to. But the story was truly worth the listen/read. I'm a believer and know that there is the mystery of our universe we cannot comprehend. Good job Mr. Russell.

The bed and breakfast was hidden in the hills of West Virginia. Wary guests wondered how it could stay in business at such a creepy, remote location. Especially with its bizarre, presidential decor and eccentric proprietor. When the event hotel for the national Iron Woman triathlon accidentally overbooked, competitor Maria was forced to stay at the Rushmore. But after checking into her room, she quickly realized she wasn't alone. First her suitcase wasn't where she put it. Then her cell phone was moved. Finally, she heard an odd creaking under the bed.

The second, riveting novel from Bram Stoker Award-winner Jack Ketchum, Hide and Seek is a book about games. Reckless, dangerous games. Games you might even want to play yourself if you're with the right people. But shouldn't. Not ever… In a small Maine town, a group of thrill seeking college kids finds a game of hide and seek in an abandoned house turning into a reality of stark terror.

The story title is misleading. I thought it would be more meat to it. I totally expected a thriller and it took a lot just to finish it. It is a quick read, but not even worth reading/listening to if you're expecting a thriller. It's literally a story of bored kids making a bad decision then ends up in some trouble. Not surprising at all.
