Sent to do a fluff piece about lights in the night sky over Arizona, Peter discovers far more than he ever expected when he comes across a mysterious young woman held prisoner in a basement. After helping her escape, she disappears before he can learn the truth about who she is or where she came from. His search for her leads him back to the lights in the sky and leaves him with more questions than answers. The only thing he knows for certain...the only thing he can count on are the two words offered repeatedly by his friend and guide: "is belt."
My Apology Mr. Maus. You provided the Audible version for free in exchange for a review....and I forgot to write it! This is an outstanding and original thinking series. Top shelf material. I highly recommend this series. I look forward to getting the third book (if it is written yet). And now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
Bob Johansson didn't believe in an afterlife, so waking up after being killed in a car accident was a shock. To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe.
This is a great continuation of the Bobuverse story. Highly recommend you read/listen to the first book in the series before this one. I think I'll use my June credit on the third installment (if it is at Audible yet, that is.). I also recommend this series because it has a unique idea behind the sci-fi theme. I do not remember if bought the 2nd book or if Mr. Taylor gave it to me in exchange for a review. Just in case here is the obligatory "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
Four audiobooks in one box set: Last Stand: Surviving America's Collapse, Last Stand: Patriots, Last Stand: Warlords, and Last Stand: Turning the Tide. John Mack, a prepper and former soldier, struggles to save his family and community after an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) takes out the country's electrical grid. With most electronics, communications, and transportation destroyed in a matter of seconds, the nation quickly collapses into anarchy. Threats emerge from enemies both foreign and domestic.
I love the box-set. I had previously read the first story but never got back around to finishing it. Mr. Weber was kind enough to give me the audible version in box-set. I highly recommend this series to all. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
This classic story of adventure during the Scottish war for independence follows the exploits of young Archie Forbes as he fights in defense of his family and his nation. Archie crosses paths with such iconic figures of Scottish history as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce in Henty's beloved historical fiction title. This edition includes the full, unabridged text of In Freedom's Cause. In addition, it includes clear yet extensive discussion questions and study tools to help readers more easily understand this classic text.
Apparently, this book was intended as part of a learning course. That is not a takeaway, it helped me to focus on the important aspects of the period. I will be getting more good reads from G.A. Henry. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
Matthew, Carl, and Sergio brave the toughest obstacles on the road in this new world. Nothing could have prepared them for what they would encounter. After coming across a well-defended base, they desperately try to make allies. But some of the members of the group have other ideas. The zombies are everywhere. It’s more dangerous than ever to survive. The new members of their group want to help them survive. But when tensions rise, and one of the members gets lost to the zombies, will they be able to stand by their ethics?
Great story. I could see what was coming next, so I gave it 4 stars. I like the Z's to do the unexpected....like show up for a blind date? Anyway, I do recommend this series. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
With humanity out in the open, Eve and her sisters are now the subject of worldwide adoration - and constant surveillance. With Eve as humanity's spokeswoman, it's up to her to bargain for the freedom she craves now that's she's had a taste of it. But Eve's pleas fall on deaf ears. Hers is only one voice, lost in a committee of robots hundreds of years her senior. No amount of earnestness can overcome the crushing inertia of the Human Committee.
I just love this series. I think it would be marvelous to take J.S. Borin's brain out and see what makes it tick. I highly recommend this series to all.
Charlie Johnson is your average American teenager. He’s a good student, he’s a good son, his girlfriend is the love of his life. He’s a nice kid. Charlie also murders people for their sins. A serious car accident leaves Charlie comatose, and when he comes to, he suffers from visions of unspeakable horror that keep him awake at night. He soon discovers that when he touches people, he can sense their evil and see their greatest evils. Some crimes are too terrible to describe. Some crimes are too terrible to go unanswered.
I just finished reading Sinful. This book left me wondering. Crazy or God's tool? 50-50%. Few books have left me up in the air. This one did. And I love it because of that. Very hard thing to successfully pull off. I heartily recommend this book. And now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
Hugo Award winner Elizabeth Bear has been called one of the best science fiction authors of her generation. In Dust she skillfully spins a classic science fiction trope - the lost generation ship - into a complex and compelling tale of fallen angels, secretive family politics, and sexual taboo.
This book shows great imagination and a unique take in this genre. I was able to identify with the characters and had apprehension when the characters nearly died...more than once. This book is not predictable, which is always a plus. I believe there is no book 2. There needs to be, I just hope Elizabeth Bear will consider a sequel. Charlie7 is the progenitor of a mechanical race he built from the ashes of a dead world - Earth. He is a robot of leisure and idle political meddling - a retirement well-earned. Or he was, until a human girl named Eve was dropped in his lap. Geneticists have restored Earth's biome and have begun repopulation. But primate cloning is in its infancy; human cloning is banned. Far from a failed genetics experiment, Eve is brilliant, curious, and heartbreakingly naïve about her species' history.
I fell in love with this book. I received the audible version and I would have to keep going back a couple minutes to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. This is my first exposure to J.S. Morin's writing. I must say, he has a very unique mind. I just spent a credit getting the next book in the series. I can highly recommend this book/series to all. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."
As the largest threat ever to rise against mankind prepares its own twisted Apocalypse, the only thing standing in its way is the Monster Squads. Man and monster will fight side by side in an epic battle to the death to try to defeat an evil so great, it could only have been created by God himself.
I'm not sure why you are reading this review. ALL the books live up to their top-shelf status. I would wish you to start with the first book in this series. I highly recommend this series.
