Precious Ramotswe's comfortable existence as the only detective in Botswana is suddenly rattled when the Satisfaction Guaranteed Detective Agency opens, and its brochure proclaims, "Don't take any chances! Entrust your enquiries to a MAN!" As if the development isn't enough, Mma Ramotswe has also taken on two difficult cases, one of which hits close to home. But with wisdom on her side, Mma Ramotswe figures to crack both cases and upstage her competition.
I wish I could listen to the books in order. It would make things a little more clear. Nevertheless, I love these books!! Having been to Botswana, I can almost see where these stories take place!
Precious Ramotswe has taken on two puzzling cases. First, she is approached by the lawyer Mma Sheba, who is the executor of a deceased farmer’s estate. Mma Sheba has a feeling that the young man who has stepped forward may be falsely impersonating the farmer’s nephew in order to claim his inheritance. Mma Ramotswe agrees to visit the farm and find out what she can about the self-professed nephew. Then the proprietor of the Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon comes to Mma Ramotswe for advice.
The reading is slower, but it is the way. The story and narration is overall good. I love the adventures of the #1 Ladies Detective Agency.
Having just celebrated her 26th birthday in 1976 California, Dana, an African-American woman, is suddenly and inexplicably wrenched through time into antebellum Maryland. After saving a drowning white boy there, she finds herself staring into the barrel of a shotgun and is transported back to the present just in time to save her life. During numerous such time-defying episodes with the same young man, she realizes she's been given a challenge.
A very intriguing story. Although there were difficult portions, the story kept me captivated. I couldn't let it go!
Laurie Moran's professional life is a success - her television show, Under Suspicion, is a hit in both the ratings and its record of solving cold cases. But her romantic break from former host Alex Buckley has left her with on-air talent she can't stand - Ryan Nichols - and a sense of loneliness, despite her loving family. Now Ryan has suggested a new case. Three years ago Virginia Wakeling was found in the snow after being thrown from the museum's roof on the night of its most celebrated fund-raiser, the Met Gala.
Good story line. Not able to figure out who the killer was as easily as I. previous books.
Some time has passed since Enough Good News and Sidney is settled into her new family, new job and new church. She soon discovers however that all that glitters isn't gold and everyone talking about heaven ain't going. Weak church leaders fall easily under the influence of dark forces targeting Sidney.
Much better than the first! And while I like that author narrated the story, I was disappointed in the monotone narration. smh... Oh well, at least the timing was on point!
I also loved the themes of spiritual warfare and how even Christians can be influenced by demonic forces! Good job!
When the father she's had little contact with over the last 30 years shows up and announces he has a daughter from a previous relationship, (a relationship he had while married to her mother) Sidra's life begins to make some interesting turns.
This book has been on my "To Read" list forever. I finally decided to listen to the audio version. While the story line was very good, the narration was very disappointing! The character voices wouldn't have been so bad, but the timing was off and made it difficult to relate to picture the characters. I plan to listen to Book #2, but if the flow od the reader is off, I may not make it to Book #3!
After her very public divorce from Dillon, Raven Black is recovering nicely. Dillon has done everything he can to discredit her, but Raven has learned from her mistakes and him. In fact she's intent on using every bit of Dillon's revenge and betrayal as she prepares to take what is hers - and more. Her ambitions have never been so great, and Raven always knows how to get what she wants. She also won't allow anything or anyone to get in her way.
Wow! This by far was one of the best in the series! Again I appreciate topics addressed, especially issues of singleness, including fornication/adultery, the need to address sex preferences prior to marriage; issues surrounding women in ministry and female pastors. It is also very scary thinking about people who "call themselves into ministry and/or lose sight of what Gpd has calles them to do resulting in ungodly/unethical behaviors! Whew! What's next. Can't wait to see. Thank you, Ms. Roby
Two years ago, to everyone's surprise, Dillon Whitfield Black, the secret son of Reverend Curtis Black, boldly moved back home, married a woman named Raven, decided he was going to become a minister, and then founded a church right in the center of his living room. Today he's pastor of a 1,000-plus-member congregation, and new members are joining weekly. Sadly, behind closed doors Dillon is far from being a saint. He has become more like the man his father was 30 years ago - consumed with money, power, and lots of women.
I live the way she integrates real life situations in each story line. This time was Depression w/Psychosis, Suicidal Ideation, and as usual, greed and deception!
It's been four years since 28-year-old Alicia Black, daughter of Reverend Curtis Black, divorced her second husband, the most womanizing and corrupt man she has ever known. Since then, Alicia has been dating her first husband, Phillip Sullivan, a wonderfully kind and true man of God whom she'd hurt terribly by cheating on him. Alicia has worked hard to prove herself worthy of his trust once more, and when he asks her to marry him again, she couldn't be happier.
Definitely a good story line. Sick of Alicia's foolishness and hate that things ended the way they did with she and her husband. About fell out with some of the twists and turns. Wondering why someone didn't loose their mind and shoot Melanie's crazy mama?! 😡
The Reverend Curtis Black hasn't spoken to his son, Matthew, in over a year-not since Matthew dropped out of Harvard to marry his girlfriend, Racquel, and be a full-time father to their infant son. Curtis knows that it was he and his wife, Charlotte, who drove Matthew away, but he prays that one day his son will forgive them and come home.
Definitely an attention keeper!! As usual, it was chocked full of craziness! Praise God the story was not completely focused on Curtis and Charlotte. I do mean!
