Cal McGill is an Edinburgh-based oceanographer, environmentalist and one-of-a-kind investigator. Using his knowledge of the waves - ocean currents, prevailing winds, shipping records - McGill can track where objects came from or where they've gone. It's a skill that can help solve mysteries ranging from disappearances to murder. Two severed feet wash up on two different islands off the coast of Scotland. Forensics shows that the feet belong to the same body.

Much promise but the book's rhythm gets ruined by constant backstories on all characters. And then a bunch of happy coincidences lead to the resolution. Sad.

What disappointed you about Force of Nature?

The story feels stilted and bending over ways to make "small" points.

What could Jane Harper have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Stay clear of the small psychological points and develop one central storyline more concisely.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Would you try another book from Andy Weir and/or Rosario Dawson?

This book is a massive waste of time! You can sense the germ of a wonderful universe and story but it all just goes to hell in a hurry.

Has Artemis turned you off from other books in this genre?

Artemis is a disgrace for the science fiction genre - and even worse as a suspense novel.

Would you be willing to try another one of Rosario Dawson’s performances?

Various characters speak about 8 different accents in the novel and it is absolutely cringeworthy to hear Rosario Dawson butcher every single one of them. Granted the book is massively stupid to start with but Dawson's narration does it no favors whatsoever!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Extremely disappointed!
