Gates of Fire
- An Epic Novel of the Battle of Thermopylae
- By: Steven Pressfield
- Narrated by: George Guidall
- Length: 14 hrs and 55 mins
Gates of Fire puts you at the side of valiant Spartan warriors in 480 BC for the bloody, climactic battle at Thermopylae. There, a few hundred of Sparta’s finest sacrificed their lives to hold back the invading Persian millions. The time they bought enabled the Greeks to rally - saving, according to ancient historian Herodotus, “Western democracy and freedom from perishing in the cradle.” How did the Spartans accomplish this superhuman feat? This is what the King of Persia hopes to learn from the sole Spartan survivor.

Brilliant, riveting and timeless.
My headline says it all! Looking forward to "The Virtues of War" next... and a great narration too...

Warlord of Mars
- Mars Series, Book 3
- By: Edgar Rice Burroughs
- Narrated by: William Dufris
- Length: 6 hrs and 39 mins
John Carter, Prince of Helium, has been imprisoned for a Martian year, his wife in another cell - alive or dead, he doesn't know. In this continuation of the saga of the amazing world of Barsoom, the love story of Carter and Dejah Thoris - the red-skinned, oviparous princess - unfolds. Like all the tales in the series, fantasy and adventure combine in a style as malleable as dreams, exotic and dangerous and unending.

Great story, terrible production
The forced, mock southern accent of the narrator was too much for me to bear, I actually bought another production just so that I might hear this great tale.
