In Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher tells the true and intoxicating story of her life with inimitable wit. Born to celebrity parents, she was picked to play a princess in a little movie called Star Wars when only 19 years old. "But it isn't all sweetness and light sabers."
This book inspired my first ever audible blog post. I laugh cried a lot. Some of it was funny/sad (sad considering that Carrie and Debbie are gone), but overall it was a touching, and funny, listen. Loved it!
In Shadow Prey, the crackling sequel to Rules of Prey, Twin Cities sleuth Lucas Davenport teams up with NYPD Lieutenant Lily Rothenberg to track down an elusive killer known only as Shadow Love. Among the victims are a Minneapolis slumlord, a judge from Oklahoma City, and a Manhattan politician. The murder weapon is a Native American ceremonial knife.
This book was a little too high in testosterone for me, but I’m drawn to keep moving forward in the series anyway. I have a feeling the characters have a lot of room to develop and I’m looking forward to seeing where the author takes them.
The first thing Sophia Amoruso sold online wasn’t fashion - it was a stolen book. She spent her teens hitchhiking, committing petty theft, and dumpster diving. By twenty-two, she had resigned herself to employment, but was still broke, directionless, and working a mediocre day job she’d taken for the health insurance. It was there that Sophia decided to start selling vintage clothes on eBay. Eight years later, she is the founder, CEO, and creative director of Nasty Gal, a $100 million plus online fashion retailer with more than 350 employees.
I love everything about this. It put a fire under my ass to make things happen. I will definitely listen to it again.
Mystery bookstore owner Annie Laurance, and detective Max Darling are finally tying the knot, but a bizarre sequence of events threatens to unravel this blissful marriage before it begins. The ceremony is barely over when the phone rings and a woman on the other end of the line screams bloody murder! The newlyweds rush to the scene of the crime only to discover that Ingrid Jones, Annie's bookstore assistant, has vanished, leaving the body of a neighborhood Peeping Tom on her living room rug.
I love listening to the books in this series! This one in particular made me think more to figure out whodunnit. Took me longer than usual. A fun trip, for sure.

Celebrity health expert and four-time New York Times best-selling author JJ Virgin reveals how one life-altering event taught her to tap in to an indomitable mind-set, trust her instincts, and defy the odds, ultimately saving her son's life - and her own. She'll share the lessons she learned that can help you create your own resilient mind-set.
I have been following JJ Virgin for years before the accident that this book details even happened. She was an inspiration to me before and is more so now after having soaked this book in.
The body is magnificent but it doesn't come with a lifetime warranty or an operating manual. You're the result of millions of years of evolution, but many of the adaptations that helped your ancestors survive are now working overtime to accelerate the aging process. The assumption here is that we are our genes and therefore trapped by the past. The good news is that your genetic code - the DNA sequence that is the biochemical basis of heredity - can play a minor role in the way you age.
Thank you for this book. I found it not only full of useful and applicable information, but also it inspired me. I am going to share this with every woman I know.

Have you wondered why some 60-year-olds look and feel like 40-year-olds and why some 40-year-olds look and feel like 60-year-olds? While many factors contribute to aging and illness, Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn discovered a biological indicator called telomerase, the enzyme that replenishes telomeres, which protect our genetic heritage. Dr. Blackburn and Dr. Elissa Epel's research shows that the length and health of one's telomeres are a biological underpinning of the long-hypothesized mind-body connection.
Easy to understand science based info on telomeres. A different approach to aging well and gracefully
In the tradition of #Girlboss and Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?, a funny, quirky, and inspiring memoir from online entertainment mogul, actress, and "queen of the geeks" Felicia Day about her unusual upbringing, her rise to Internet stardom, and embracing her individuality to find success in Hollywood.
I love your freakin book! I'm not a gamer, I'm actually a fitness expert- not your ideal audience. Saw you on Supernatural, then saw your book, so I got it. I appreciate your authenticity, and you made me laugh out loud several times. And if your goal was to inspire, it worked! Thank you for putting this out there.
