In a world full of super powers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. After learning to harness his ability to modify any item he owns, he now runs a corporation that is rapidly expanding - Legion. After tangling with the local Heroes guild they’ve finally settled into a semblance of stability. Sounds great on paper. Run your company, make money, be your own boss, settle down. Except that with running a business, comes an inordinate amount of responsibilities. Like making sure everything keeps running and your people are paid.
What an incredible continuation! I must sing the praises of Nick Podehl because he truly picked right back up where the first book left off.
I admit I've loved all of Nick's work thus far, but I was still concerned with the narrator change. I was ecstatic when I learned that Nick was studying the original production and he truly nailed this performance.
I read this book upon release while imagining many of the voices as done by Jeff Hays, and yet I was not jarred at all to hear Nick's delivery of the story and his version these amazing characters.
Absolutely outstanding job! I eagerly await both William D. Arand and Nick Podehl's next releases.
If you are looking for your next fix of audible or text goodness, might I recommend the author Randi Darren.
She didn't mean to use magic. She didn't even know she had magic. She just wanted to save her brother, who was dying in her arms. Accused of using illegal magic, and sentenced to a cruel death at the hands of the city's guards, Hannah has no choice but to trust in the aid of a strange old man who wields unimaginable power.
What made the experience of listening to Restriction the most enjoyable?
This book is incredible! I'm hardly able to resist the call of the next long enough to write this review. Such a dynamic story is worth the sacrifice though, and I'll enjoy the anticipation while I give this work its due.Ever since stumbling across an intriguing description on a little book tittled "Death Becomes Her" (check it out), I've been greedily consuming all the releases I can. I've yet to be let down by a single chapter in all the books of the extended universe, and it is a joy to ride along with the many characters through their triumphs and challenges. That being said, this is the first off-shoot series to rival the Kurtherian Gambit books for my love. I've exalted in both Terry Henry and Valarie's stories, but at least part of me was always looking forward most to them meeting back up with TQB. Inevitably, any new audio release for the main series immediately pull me away from other stories. Now I'm not sure anything can pull me away from The Rise of Magic!Truly, this book stands on its own, and while it pays great homage to its ancestors, I was entirely swept away in the here and now. Whatever comes next I'm sure I will love, but I'm all in for the present and plan to enjoy every furious and passionate moment of Hannah's story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Hannah. She is introduced to us as somehow who cares for others even when she has been given little reason to look out for anyone but herself. Her approach to life brings her strong relationships with people of true character, regardless of how Adrien's society views them.*SOILERS*I love the way her tough upbringing has refined her, and how her strict emotional suppression is both a point of character growth AND a strength for her rapid improvement in magic. Either giving up or giving into her emotions would be the end for her, and I look forward to seeing what balance she can find and what happens until she finds it.*END*
Have you listened to any of Kate Rudd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
She is incredible, as always.Perhaps most importantly, this was a unique performance. I had no problem telling characters apart, from this work and her others. She has a very impressive vocal range, and I often forgot I was listening to a single artist.I call her an artist because that is what she is, and art is what she creates.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely! So, I did.
Any additional comments?
Alex always knew romance would be complicated. When love came into his life with wings and horns, he knew those complications would be a little unusual. Four months after meeting Rachel and Lorelei, Alex finally has a handle on divine visitations, supernatural enemies, and the echoes of reincarnation. He might even survive bringing an angel and a demon home for Christmas with the family.
When I saw the option to pre-order this book pop up I was ecstatic. This has been another welcome opportunity to travel along with these wonderful characters, brought to life by both Elliot and Tess! I couldn't stop listening.
Honestly, my only real disappointment was with the lack of appearance by the characters introduced in "Tales of High Adventure" which I highly recommend to any who missed it.
Thank you once again Tess for your incredible performance and unbelievable vocal range. I can only hope that Elliot continues to share these stories with us.
