"So many of us hold a deep belief that we were born unworthy," reflects Adyashanti, "inadequate, unlovable, and alone." But what if, in truth, we weren't put here to pay penance, change our karma, or "fix" ourselves? What if we chose to be here because we so loved the world that we poured ourselves into it - to make it whole again, to restore "the hidden divinity amid the disaster"? With Healing the Core Wound of Unworthiness, we're invited to entertain that possibility.

In the quarter century that Victoria Sweet has been a doctor, "health care" has replaced medicine, "providers" (vastly outnumbered by administrators) look at their laptops more than at their patients, and the ruthless pursuit of efficiency has vanquished not only trust and intimacy but also, often, the effectiveness of treatment. Victoria Sweet knows that there is an alternative way, because she has lived and practiced it. In her new book, she reflects with compassion, wit, and profound insight.

Bell's rapidly declining health forced him to flee his glamorous Miami life to a sterile "bubble" in the remote Arizona desert.

Where does Poisoned rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the very best and useful medical story books I have read.

What did you like best about this story?

Mr. Bell's establishment of the Environmental Health Foundation and helping others with his condition.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Mr. Bell took his first walk outside of his "bubble" in Arizona.

Any additional comments?

This is a must read for all clinicians and highly recommended for laypersons who know some one or are themselves suffering with multiple chemical sensitivity. This is a very real and quality of life (if not life itself) robbing condition which can be prevented if you are informed.

Too many Americans die each year as a result of preventable medical error - mistakes, complications, and misdiagnoses. And many more of us are not receiving the best care possible, even though it's readily available and we're entitled to it. The key is knowing how to access it. The Patient's Playbook is a call to action. The author of the highly acclaimed Overdiagnosed describes seven widespread assumptions that encourage excessive, often ineffective, and sometimes harmful medical care. You might think the biggest problem in medical care is that it costs too much. Or that health insurance is too expensive, too uneven, too complicated - and gives you too many forms to fill out. But the central problem is that too much medical care has too little value.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

A lot of misconstrued information that has been updated quite a while back. Not sure if it will help anyone.

Would you ever listen to anything by The Great Courses again?

Yes - I have already heard some other very well presented and informative courses.

Would you be willing to try another one of Professor Roberta H. Anding’s performances?

No.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Nutrition Made Clear?

Can't remember there are so many that after listening for an hour or two, I just gave up and decided this was not for me.

Any additional comments?

I am a holistic and integrative practitioner board certified in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Found this to be full of outdated information and not as relevant as I had hoped for.
