Deep in the Caribbean Sea, a nuclear submarine is forced to suddenly abort its mission under mysterious circumstances. Strange facts begin to emerge that lead naval investigator, John Clay, to a small group of marine biologists who are quietly on the verge of making history.
This story caught my attention from the first chapter, being able to communicate with dolphins is an exciting idea. Throw in dedicated scientist, brilliant computer techs, brave and handsome navy seals, alien or humanoid visitors, and paranoid shoot first government officials and we get an action packed, edge of your seat story. The narrator was wonderful, I look forward to hearing him again.
Mia Corvere has found her place among the Blades of Our Lady of Blessed Murder, but many in the Red Church hierarchy think she's far from earned it. Plying her bloody trade in a backwater of the Republic, she's no closer to ending the men who destroyed her familia; in fact, she's told directly that Consul Scaeva is off limits. But after a deadly confrontation with an old enemy, Mia's suspicions about the Red Church's true motives begin to grow.
I can't wait for the next book; I need to know how this story ends.
Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father's failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father's former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer and a future she never imagined.
The first time I listened to this story it didn't grab me in the first two or three chapters. I decided to give it another try. The narrator caught my attention on my second attempt and I found myself enthralled with the story.
Published almost 10 years ago, Guilty Pleasures marked the debut of a writer who was destined to grow from cult favorite to a major bestselling author. Now, for long-time Anita Blake aficionados and newfound fans, Guilty Pleasures makes its debut in downloadable audio
This is my first purchased audio book, well almost since the first book is free with a subscription. I listened to a later story by the same production company and decided to take the plunge. I love to read but often don't have the time. Audio books are very convenient and entertaining.
As for this particular book I truly enjoy reading Laurel Kay Hamilton and her many series books . I plan to build an audio library as well as a digital and paperback Library.
