All Cookie James wanted was a romantic island picnic with her sexy handyman, Dylan Creed. What she got was a lobster trap full of drugs. As an ex-FBI agent, Cookie's determined to hand the evidence off to local authorities and stay out of the fray. But when a package arrives with a gory warning, she has no choice but to call in her former partner, Hunter O'Neil, and investigate the case.
Any book that has me laughing out loud on page one has got to be a winner! I'll just let you listen to find out what had me laughing. Cookie/Charlie is one lucky lady—or is she? Two hot guys. Both interested in her. All she had to do is choose one. Not so easy. At the end of the last book, she thought it would be Dylan, her handyman. They just couldn't seem to make it through date number one. Another case interrupts their date. Drugs. When it escalated she had to call in her ex-partner from the FBI, Hunter. Man number two. While she is out trying to solve the case and ignore the feelings Hunter is generating in her, Dylan could be cooling off.
The steam is more of the tension kind, there is a good love triangle working. You get characters you want to win but you can't choose between the guys either. Poor Cookie. Danger, twists, unexpected culprits, and an ending you won't guess. Another good offer from the team of Lucy Quinn. I recommend it.
The Narration is great. Just enough New England accent not overdone. Each character has a unique tone and flavor. Great job.
For Logan Anderson, moving on from a traumatic past means moving back to his hometown of Castle Rock, Colorado, to start a personal-security business with his brothers. But it's not long before Logan runs into Grace Mason, his best friend from high school...and the woman who never answered his letters during his Army years. Grace was pleasantly surprised to see Logan return to Castle Rock, despite their falling-out ten years ago. Everyone always assumed they would end up together, including Grace.
Good start to the series Logan, one triplet brother in a security business they start to honor their murdered father, finds his teenage love again. He thought she'd dumped him while he was away. Iin the army. What he learns is right up his line. Is he too late to get her back or even save her?
Nothing is more important to Blake Anderson than the work he does with his brothers at Ace Security. At least that's what he thinks until he meets the fiercely independent Alexis Grant. The security firm's new intern pushes all his buttons - and makes his temperature rise. But giving in to temptation might be risky business. Alexis can tell that Blake has his doubts about her ability to commit. But while most people look at her and see only a flighty rich girl, she knows he sees much more.
I enjoyed the audio of Blake and Alexis relationship. She has grown from the little rich girl to a strong woman, with a few insecurities. Blake is just the guy to have her back in work and her personal life. They are working to close down a gang who'd hurt Logan's, another Anderson brother in their family security business, now wife.
Alexis is a novice but has the contacts to infiltrate the gang. It's a dangerous undertaking. Will she learn what they need or lose her life trying?
I enjoyed this enough to go get the rest of the series.
All Cookie James, FBI agent and innkeeper extraordinaire, wants is a romantic date with her hot handyman...but what she gets is a corpse presented with a big red bow. When she and Dylan discover a boat with a dead body, not only is her picnic ruined, but a woman from Dylan’s past returns to the island. The famous rock star appears to want a comeback tour with her former bodyguard. But Cookie doesn’t have time to worry about that, because her oh-so-sexy ex-FBI partner has arrived, too.
I read the book about a year ago. Listening to the audio was a great experience. I liked Traci Odom's narration. She did a great job with Cookie and the guys. She didn't try too hard to make a male voice just enough to distinguish. Her Main accent was good as well.
Two hotties and she isn't taking either one of them—yet. Of course, finding a corpse tends to ruin the romance of boat ride and a picnic. Cookie, in hiding FBI agent, gets involved with solving the case along with her former partner (one of the hotties) when the locals call in the FBI and deputize her. Thrown together with hot Hunter, and her singing idol, she's distracted from Dylan—until he turns out to have a history with the singer.
With all the distractions, you'd think solving the case would be impossible. Not for Cookie. If she can deal with her mother (you have to read about Rainne to understand) she can stay focused. Well, mostly. It is fun watching her deal with Hunter to solve the case. Except with Cookie and those around her, the end is rarely that simple.
Is she going to choose between Hunter and Dylan? Solve the case? Figure out why her idol is really on Seal Island? A good read, interesting, fun read with sexy characters, clues that lead one way, but never quite giving it away. You'll find yourself wanting to read more at the end of this one.
A cozy with some spice and fun characters. I wasn't as happy with the accent of one of the bad guys. Overall there's humor, danger, and an overall enjoyable experience.

Immortal Ops Team Captain Lukian Vlakhusha is having issues with his newest target, Peren Matthews. His higher-ups want her eliminated. He simply wants her. The alpha side of him demands he claim her - that is, if she'll have him. After all, he's what she fears most - a wolf shifter. But there is more to Peren than even she's aware of and the enemy is closer than anyone imagined.
I LISTENED TO THE AUDIO VERSION OF THE ANNIVERSARY COPY. THE NARRATOR WAS GOOD, PORTRAYING THESE DANGEROUS, SEXY PRANKSTERS. This is the start of it all. Yep. Ms. Roth has updated and added to the wonderful series team of powerful immortals, some born, and others created by science. This first book introduces us to the guys, their origins, as well as the team's solidarity. Their hijinks will make you laugh, their powers will amaze you, and their sexual appetites will heat things up.
They are given an order that none of them want to follow, but they are a military unit. Eliminate a woman. However, when they check out the situation Lukian, the leader, finds himself wanting her as none other. Why the order? Perin doesn't know what she is, she has a past she wants to forget but can't. And her feelings for Lukian, is it fear or want as she has never known?
Now the team has to follow their guts or their commanders. Danger, enemies, and questions await them.
This is a captivating audio and a page-turner with unforgettable characters, a love story to satisfy all HEA fans, and emotional turns I was unprepared to have happen. I recommend this to all readers and fans alike.
Reya had it all. The promise of love, of a future, of happiness. It was all based on lies. Lies that left her in the hands of slave traders. When she finds herself on a strange planet with powerful men who can shift into beasts and who are in the market for strong stock to serve their every sexual whim, she knows she'll be given back to the traders to face certain death. So she makes a run for it - straight into the arms of two brothers.
The third offering of the Beast Masters collection 1, Rescuing Reya, is a winner. She was such a dichotomy, appearing so fragile and tiny, yet her wants and stamina challenged the strongest of them.
Weak and ill, when the ship landed she feared she would be rejected by these beautiful but beastly men, as they'd been described, on this planet. Slave traders had no sympathy for any woman who couldn't bring a price. So she ran.
Altan wanted her--needed her but she mistook his feelings. Utan, his brother, promised to find and take care of her while Altan was away. Brothers should be trusted, but when a woman comes between them is there a way to make it work without breaking the family apart?
It was a bouncing ball of emotions with Reya and the brothers. Overcoming her illness was not the biggest danger she faced. Would this new danger cost her everything?
Even though this was a short story, the author made you feel what they felt and the frustration. There is steam, betrayal, danger and internal battles Don't miss this book or this series. Although the story stands alone, do yourself a favor and read them all.
On a quest to find his brother, King Kritan of Katarian on the planet of Panucia finds himself ambushed, beaten, tortured and then sold to fight in the arena games. The people of Tamonius--his rival kingdom--condone slavery, take public sex to new lows and try to turn a profit off anything they can. Nothing can change his hatred for everything Tamonius...that is until he meets the most breathtakingly beautiful woman he's ever laid eyes upon.
A futuristic world, not unlike the hedonistic times of the Roman Empire. When King Kritan journeys to find his long-lost brother he renews the reasons he hates this enemy land. More than seeing the fall of these people, he is captured, beaten and made a slave destined for the arena.
Surina, the sheltered daughter of a political leader rescues him from the hands of a cruel soldier of her father's. Their immediate connection belies her innocence and their circumstances. Their future depends on magic, even d
magic and the help of another who loves Surina.
This is fast-paced, with some clear villains and some surprises. There are plenty of erotic scenes-- enough to heat up the winter nights.
Commission Captain and special operative Sevan Vasil has enough problems without the strange dreams that seem to be his mind’s version of a cruel joke. No woman could be that perfect...except perhaps his fated mate. No human or alien alive would dare answer a lion-shifter’s call. Not with the state of unrest and anti-supernatural movement in the universe. When the raven-haired beauty who invaded his dreams appears on his communication screen, he knows everything is changing, and maybe destiny is on his side. And just maybe, she is his mate.
If you dream of a woman long enough does she become real? That's the question Sevan asks when he sees the woman on screen he's been making love to in his dreams for six months. She's directing him for an emergency landing on her planet.
Loreli has had the same dreams!
She wants him, he wants her. Should be easy. Except: The planet has dangers that seem insurmountable and no one wants to subject outsiders to them. With the ship needing repairs to continue the crew is allowed to stay only for repairs. Of course, they can't be completed as quickly as necessary. Night falls and the danger is multiplied.
Ms. Roth creates a world of humans, more than humans, villains, heroes, strong women, hot alpha males and a history that ties them together. She introductions us to characters we want to know more about for future stories. This one stands alone but is a tempting introduction to other lives and stories. The narrator does male and female voice equally well.
FBI agent Cookie James is enjoying her extended leave from the agency on Secret Seal Isle, managing her quaint inn, and flirting with the oh-so sexy-handyman, Dylan Creed . . . until her 60-year-old mother goes skinny dipping and is almost drowned by a corpse. A phone call to the sheriff should mean the end of Cookie’s involvement, but when it’s clear the sheriff has no interest in the investigation, Cookie calls in reinforcements - her ex-partner Hunter O’Neil.
I just listened to the audio, the best way to reread. It was a whole new experience with the good narration of the different characters and just the right touch of Mane Accents.
Most women would be happy with one hot guy after her--not Cookie. She has two, count them, one a very handy handyman, and two, a hot, dark FBI ex-partner. She and her mom came to the little hideaway island to hide away from some bad guys after her. She sure didn't expect her first week as proprietor of a little bed and breakfast to include a dead body in the water behind her inn.
The practically nonexistent police force of one ignores the situation calling it an accident without even investigating. What can she do but call in her former partner, Hunter? Hot and has always wanted her, he shows up and they partner again. Question is, how much partnering will they do?
Just before Hunter showed up, she and her handyman, Dylan, were contemplating how handy they'd like to be. Now, what? Both men are scorching hot, great guys, and not at all happy the other one is in the picture.
It has a good mystery, lots of sexual tension, some great humor and memorable characters. What more could you want? As for me, I'd like more of Ms. Quinn's work. Can't wait for another book and audio.

Grant McFarland is the head Protector of Clan Lochguard. His top priority is finding the traitorous former clan members who attacked the Scottish clan. However, the touch of a female he's known his whole life has started to set his body on fire. Both man and beast want her, but until he can ensure the clan is safe, he must resist her. Faye MacKenzie used to be in charge of security for her clan. Then an attack damaged her wing and she's been struggling to find her place ever since. When she confronts the head Protector for a job, she can't stop looking at his lips.
Wonderful. That is my first thought after listening to this book. I read it about a year ago and if possible it was even better the second time around. Not only do we get the problem-filled romance of Grant and Faye, we get to watch the continued life together of Finn and Arabella two of my favorite characters. Add triplets to that family and life is even better.
Grant and Faye have a history from their military years, they both have been the head protector of their clan, their responsibilites prevent them from pursuing a possible life together.
The author never fails to give the best stories with difficult conflicts, humor, steam, and unforgettable characters you have to love or if villains hate. Her world of dragons is unique. Each story is complete alone, however, there is are reoccurring characters and enemies they face. Ms. Donnovan capsulizes the necessary background to fill in previous stories with a smooth transition.
The narrator does a good job of all the accents from Irish to Scottish, English, to American. I can't make a stronger recommendation for an enjoyable listening experience.
