As a child, Hester Wyatt escaped slavery, but now the dark-skinned beauty is a member of Michigan's Underground Railroad, offering other runaways a chance at the freedom she has learned to love. When one of her fellow conductors brings her an injured man to hide, Hester doesn't hesitate...even after she is told about the price on his head. The man in question is known as the "Black Daniel," a vital member of the North's Underground Railroad network.
I’ve read this story multiple times and never get tired of reading it. I decided to get the audio version but the narrator is horrible. She tries to do a French accent but you can’t understand what’s she’s saying. The only reason I understood is because I’ve read the story so many times. At times I had to rewind a bit though which isn’t good when you’re listening to a book. The story is indeed a beautiful one and I listened to the whole thing but I will be sure to stay away from this narrator. Happy Reading!
The Cincinnati detectives question everything they know - and everyone they trust-in the new novel of romantic suspense from New York Times best-selling author Karen Rose. Homicide detective Adam Kimble is no stranger to battling demons. But Meredith Fallon is a different kind of weakness: one that could actually be good for him, if only he would let himself depend on her.
Wow. Karen Rose keeps you on your toes, on the edge of your seat. This was such a great story. Can’t wait for the next. Happy Reading!!!
To escape becoming a ward of her unscrupulous uncle, Taylor Stapleton will wed Lucas Ross, a rugged American rancher. Taylor also has a secret...a precious legacy she hasn't revealed to Ross. However, as she begins to fall for her handsome new husband, Taylor dares to surrender her heart to an uncertain future.
I didn’t want the story to end. Julie Garwood always creates stories that make you want to finish in one sitting. This story was very sweet and endearing. I wish Hunter and Victoria would get their own story. Happy Reading.
Avery Ross is living a dream. After struggling all of her life to make ends meet, a chance meeting with a powerful, darkly handsome man has catapulted her into a dazzling new world of penthouse luxury, elegant parties, and a wild, consuming passion with her billionaire lover, Dominic Baine. Nothing is out of his reach in business or in pleasure, yet the only woman he wants is her. Nick sweeps her to sensual heights she has never dared explore, commanding her body the same way he commands her heart.
I listened to the first book and was not excited about going to book 2 then book 2 just annoyed me. Avery is full of angst and she's self deprecating. Meanwhile Nick tolerates all of it. **Spoiler Alert** Then at the end she has the nerve to be angry because he "lied to her". Well what about when she went behind his back to meet Catherine and had NO intentions on telling him and got all of Nicks back life story from Catherine?? What about when she lied about her step brother??? The only reason she told him was because she got caught with the money that Catherine paid her for her paintings. That was a huge betrayal on her Avery's part and even still he stayed with her. Meanwhile she's all upset because he set up their meeting?? What?? She's been living with him/off him for months. He has bout her lavish gifts and shes not complaining. All of that's ok but when she finds out that he intentionally set it up for them to meet because he felt connected to her art she makes this higher deal about she's so upset that she leaves. I'm just annoyed by this story. I will listen to the last book because I want to have closure but I will for sure stick my Midnight Breeds with Lara Adrian. They have never let me down. They were more believable than these two characters. Anyway Happy Reading!!!
The first victim is found in a snow-covered Philadelphia field. Detective Vito Ciccotelli enlists the aid of archaeologist Sophie Johannsen to determine exactly what lies beneath the frozen ground. Despite years of unearthing things long buried, nothing can prepare Sophie for the matrix of graves dug with chilling precision. The victims buried there haunt her. But the killer isn't done yet. He is cold and calculating, the master of a twisted game. Even with Vito and Sophie hot on his trail, he will not stop.
I chose to read Karen Rose's Cincinnati series because of the narrator. I had hit a funk and needed a good book and my favorite authors had nothing new out so I figured I'd listen to another one of the books in Karen's series. Well damn! I am just so glad I have stumbled onto this author. These books are graphic but so well put together. I was so entranced in getting to the end I listened to the last 8 hours in one day. The very end brought me to tears. This was a really good book. I'm moving on to the next book in the series. Happy Reading!!!
When Andie tries to gain closure with her ex-husband, he asks one final favor of her. A distant cousin has died and left North the guardian of two orphans. When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. Carter and Alice aren’t your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. Complicating matters is Andie’s fiancé’s suspicion that this is all a plan by North to get Andie back.
I took a chance on this author because I was in a slump and I love Angela Dawe. She's the kind of narrator that can make any story awesome. But I can honestly say I loved this story. It was laugh out loud fun. I'm going to see about her other books. Happy Reading!
You've seen the headlines: Womanizing billionaire player! Watch out! Stay away! We were just two strangers. Facing a forbidden attraction, a chemical connection. Neither of us expected or wanted it to amount to more. But I had never been drawn to a guy the way I was drawn to this one.
I enjoyed this story. After Tahoes story I didn't think I'd be interested in any more in this series because it was so boring. This one was so much better. I enjoyed the banter between Callan and Olivia. Happy Reading!!!
Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that's exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater Bears, brings with him.
Wow!!!! I love everything Nalini has written but wow this book... it had everything. I cried with tears of mirth as I laughed and laughed and I cried tears of sadness. Valentin and Silver the perfect couple. I adored Calebs story but this rises up to be one of my favorites. The narrator deserves so many applauses she brings it all to life in such a way that you as if you're watching a movie. Beautiful story! Great story can NOT wait till the next. Happy F------ Reading!!!!
After being chained to a star to burn endlessly as punishment for stealing immortality from the gods, Jaykun has been unshackled to wage war alongside his brothers. But his freedom comes with a price: each night Jaykun must still suffer - his body burning from the inside out. One early morning, recovering from his torment, he encounters a beautiful stranger on the beach.
This story was not the best of the the first 2. This book was mostly about sex. Sex in books is great but this one was based more on that than anything else. No real story. The narrator is Excellent. I am actually only bothering with the last book because he makes it worth it. The first two books in the series were great. My favorite person in this story was Dremu once you've read/listen to the book you will see why and honestly he's not a main character. On to the next book hope it wraps up the series better than this book. Happy Reading!!!
As the last unattached member of the Kelly clan, Joe is more than ready to risk life and limb on any mission he's assigned to, but when it comes to love, he'll keep his distance. He's content to watch his brothers become thoroughly domesticated. Zoe's had nothing but heartbreak in her life, and she's determined to start over with a completely new identity, thanks to her college friend Rusty Kelly. But it's the gorgeous smile and tender words of Joe Kelly that begin to weaken her resolve to never risk her heart again.
This book was very redundant. No character development. He see's her and bam he's in love. The heroine Zoe whined the whole book. These KGI women have all been through tough times but they were no whiny about it. This was totally not KGI style. I feel like Maya Banks didn't write this it's almost like a stranger wrote it. Joe was totally short changed. The action finally picks up after chapter 20. The only good part of this story is knowing Rusty and Sean story is coming soon. I sincere hope Maya Banks or her ghost writer review the first few books and take us back to the kick butt action KGI fans are used to. The narrator wasn't great but I could deal with that if the story wasn't so boring. I had to skip through some chapters and I never do that I just couldn't listen to the self deprecating that was going on. Hopefully the book is better. Happy Reading.
