It has been almost 10 years since Matthias graduated from the elite Blackburne School, where his roommate and best friend, Fritz, fled into the woods, never to be heard from again, in the middle of their senior year. Fritz vanished just after an argument over Matthias' breaking of the school's honor code, and Matthias has long been haunted by the idea that his betrayal led to his friend's disappearance. When he is offered the opportunity to return to Blackburne as an English teacher, he sees it as a chance to put his life back together.

A Really good read. I was surprised by how good this book was. It kept the readers attention while making us remember our youth and the issues we faced as we grew up. This was a first time read for me and I have to say I will read more from Mr. Swann. Can't wait for his next book

This book was not near as good as the other Jodi Picoult books that I've read. That being said, it was still worth reading since anything Jodi Picoult writes is worth reading. There were so many facets to Paige and most of them were not likeable, and after getting into the book when Paige became more likeable, then her husband was just hard to like. Interesting but not great.
