An infection is spreading. People are dying, but they don't stay dead. St. Louis is falling to pieces. In the midst of rioting, a dangerous new disease has sprung up, pushing an already dire situation over the edge. Those who are infected suddenly become extremely aggressive, attacking and even eating those around them. And Olivia Bennett is caught right in the middle of it.
At first i didnt think i was going to like it. i found myself wanting to slap some sense in the main character. but the intense and frightening journey of the main character kept it hard to stop listening. the story is good, characters are well written and sometimes can indentify with, and the narrator is okay.
With people fleeing the valley in droves and Estes no longer the safe haven it had once been, Neil Martin must make some hard choices. His group has dwindled to 70 homeless refugees who have very little left to survive on. They desperately need to find a place to call home before their many enemies realize how defenseless they truly are. Instead of risking everything on a blind thrust across the Rockies to the Pacific, Neil sends out three picked teams to not only find a safe passage through the mountains but to also find a community that will take them in.
emotional, gripping, and awesome. The title says it all...sacrifice. starts out like the plot to the other books, but quickly turns into a ride of a mental and emotional rollercoaster.

After a bizarre and disturbing incident at the funeral of matriarch Marian Savage, the McCray and Savage families look forward to a restful and relaxing summer at Beldame, on Alabama's Gulf Coast, where three Victorian houses loom over the shimmering beach. Two of the houses are habitable, while the third is slowly and mysteriously being buried beneath an enormous dune of blindingly white sand. But though long uninhabited, the third house is not empty. Inside, something deadly lies in wait.
SPOOKY HAUNTED HOUSE STORY. THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD BUT SOMEHOW THINK IT COULD OF BEEN BETTER. CHARACTER DEVEOLPMENT WAS GOOD BUT RUSHED. I LOVED LOVED LOVED THE NARRATOR . SOME ASPECTS OF THE STORY SUCH AS RELATIONSHIPS COULD HAVE BEEN EXTENDED, LIKE THE FATHER DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP. *SPOILER* NO FATHER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD LEAVEVA 13 YEAR OLD GIRL IN A DEADLY HAUNTED HOUSE TO FIGHT OFF THE MONTERS, ESPECIALLY IF HE THOUGHT SHE WAS LOSING HER MIND. PERHAPS IF THE ARTHUR WENT MORE IN DEPTH WITH THEIR RELATIONSHIP THE SCENARIO WOULD HAVE BEEN BELIEVABLE . BUT OVERALL IT WAS SCARY.

"Are you happy with your life?" Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious. Before he awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits. Before a man Jason's never met smiles down at him and says, "Welcome back, my friend."
I COULD NOT STOP LISTENING. THE AUTHOR AND NARRATOR ARE BRILLIANT. THE STORY CAPTIVATING, TWISTED, AND ORIGINAL. DEFINITELY A MIND TWISTER. I'M GLAD I DID NOT READ SPOILER REVIEWS AS IT WOULD RUIN ALL SUPRISES AND THE WHOLE EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER THE STORY SENT ME ON. EVEN DAYS LATER, I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THE STORY. WELL DONE! CAN'T WAIT TO READ MORE FROM AUTHOR.

Dark of Night is a story of worlds in collision. Three heroes who have survived the apocalypse are in a deadly race to save a busload of children from ravenous zombies and ruthless human scavengers.
The book includes characters from several of Maberry's other novels. The main characters,of course, are Joe Leger and Desdemona Fox. *SPOILER* First let me say these two teaming up is CRAZY. They are a perfect couple in Maberry's post apocalyptic zombie world. The story is awesome, fast paced, and very well written. It drowns you in so much fear and chaos and doesn't seem to let you up to take a breath. My only complaint is, I wish it were longer. It seemed so short, I just wanted MORE!!!!

No one knows exactly when it began or where it originated. A terrifying new plague is spreading like wildfire across the country, striking cities one by one: Boston, Detroit, Seattle. The doctors call it Draco Incendia Trychophyton. To everyone else it's Dragonscale, a highly contagious, deadly spore that marks its hosts with beautiful black and gold marks across their bodies - before causing them to burst into flames. Millions are infected; blazes erupt everywhere. There is no antidote. No one is safe.
OMG! Brilliant. I absolutely adore Joe Hill’s books. Fireman does not disappoint. Character development is spot on. You grow to love and hate Hill’s characters. I listen to the books mostly at night to help me sleep….tune out the racing thoughts. Last night I began the last half of the book. I can say that was a mistake. I couldn’t stop listening. My heart raced and I gasped so much I woke my husband up. I won’t go into the premise of the book as you can read in the summary section in the book page. All I can say is, the book is an “inferno” of apocalyptic genocide.

Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances.
I loved the story. I enjoyed that the story is unpredictable. The character development was very well written as was the flow of the story. It has been a year since i read the book and since then i have watched the movie. The book is 100 times better than the movie. I am writing a review now because i am going to listen to it again. This will be the only book I have listened twice to.... it is that good. I know this review does not help you decide to listen to the story but i will include that if you are looking for a twisted, weird, and brutal psychological love story (yes i thought it had a bit of a tragic love story to it) this book is for you. It will keep you guessing, keep you on the edge of your seat, and keep you WANTING MORE!!!! I could NOT stop listening. Well done Mr. Hill.

The Deadlocked series continues as Billy heads into the city in search of his mother. During his quest, he will meet a strident military figure that will alter his journey and two brothers that will become his closest allies. However, his trip will endanger the family he has only just met, and he might not be able to save them. Billy's journey into the city will reveal many of the secrets of this penultimate novella.
SOME HEROS ARE BORN TO BE SO WHILE OTHERS MUST ENDURE HEARTACHE AND SACRIFICE TO REACH THEIR POTENTIAL. AS A MOTHER OF A SON I FOUND BILLY'S LOVE FOR HIS MOTHER HEARTFELT AND GENUINE. I SHED A TEAR DURING THE MAIN SCENE BETWEEN HIS MOTHER AND HIM....WELL DONE WISE....WELL DONE!
SOME (TINY AMOUNT) OF INFORMATION REGARDING THE OUTBREAK IS REVEALED BUT ONLY IN THE LAST 3 BOOKS AVAILABLE DO YOU START TO UNDERSTAND THE WHOLE CAUSE AND REASONING.......WHICH WILL ONLY PISS YOU OFF OR MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT THE ETHICAL DECISIONS MADE BEHIND THE OUTBREAK.
KEEP LISTENING...... THE SERIES ONLY GETS BETTER AND CRAZIER.

Part two of the series picks up immediately after the end of the first. David's wife, Laura, is forced to take over the protection of their family as the boat travels out into Hailey Bay, away from the zombies. However, the boat's pilot plans to dock back in the overrun city to rescue his own family, which will put Laura, Kim, and Annie in jeopardy. Laura is forced to overcome unimaginable horrors as the zombie apocalypse explodes around her, but it is the evil intent of humans that present her greatest challenge.
SOMETIMES I LISTEN TO A BOOK AND WANT TO REACH IN AND RESCUE THE UNFORTUNATE SOULS WHO I KNOW ARE GOING TO BE VICTIMS. IN THIS BOOK I GRIPPED THE EDGE OF MY SEAT AND HELD MY BREATH IN HOPES THE VICTIMS ARE RESCUED AND SAVED BUT THIS IS NOT A HEARTFELT ROMANCE OR FAIRYTALE.....THIS IS THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AND EVERYONE ALIVE BECOMES A VICTIM IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.....SOME BY SHARKS, ZOMBIES, OR HUMANS. RELENTLESS AND SCARY AS HELL. BUCKLE-UP LISTENERS BECAUSE THIS RIDE DOES NOT STOP ANYTIME SOON.

David was caught in the middle of the city when the zombie outbreak started. His wife and daughters were at home, stranded on the roof as zombies waited below. He would have to fight through hordes of undead, merciless other survivors, and a series of death defying stunts to get home. However, even if he makes it there, how can he be sure they're safe?
OF COURSE I ENJOY A FREE BOOK SO I DOWNLOADED DEADLOCKED 1. I WAS SO THANKFUL I DID. THE FIRST BOOK STARTS OUT FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A MAN TRYING DESPERATELY TO FLEE WORK AND THE CITY, AT THE BEGINNING OF A ZOMBIE OUTBREAK, TO FIND HIS FAMILY. THE HORROR AND SACRIFICE THIS MAN WILL HAVE TO ENDURE IS BRUTAL AND DEVASTATING. IN THE END THE BOOK SWITCHES TO THE WIFE/MOTHERS PERSPECTIVE. I DID NOT THINK I WOULD LIKE THE SWITCH IN PERSPECTIVES BUT IT IS DONE IN THE WHOLE SERIES AND ADDS SO MUCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND PLOT TWISTS I LOOKED FORWARD TO THE OTHERS THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCES.
THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ FOR ALL ZOMBIE LOVERS. IF YOU ARE NOT A ZOMBIE LOVER YOU WILL BE BY BOOK 2. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...WELL WORTH ALL THE MONEY INVESTED IN THE SERIES.
