The War of the Worlds is a science-fiction novel by English author H. G. Wells. It is the first-person narrative of an unnamed protagonist in Surrey and that of his younger brother in London as Earth is invaded by Martians. It is one of the earliest stories that detail a conflict between mankind and an extraterrestrial race. The novel is one of the most commented-on works in the science fiction canon.

Any additional comments?

you've probably seen the movie(s) but the book is worth checking out. It is one of the best examples of nineteenth century fantastic fiction. Take it as a critique of British colonialism or just a Sci-Fi story, it works on either level. "The War of the Worlds" is a gripping story that masterfully combines horror and suspense and keeps you at the edge of your seat until the end.
