Call Me by Your Name first swept across the world in 2007. It is the story of a sudden and powerful romance that blossoms between an adolescent boy and a summer guest at his parents' cliffside mansion on the Italian Riviera. During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy.
I listened and thought this has to get better. That was in the middle of chapter 2. Knowing the book had such positive reviews, I continued to listen. It must get better right? I'm on chapter 7 and still wondering when it will get better. It's been from the one-sided inner thoughts of 17-year old Elio who is crushing on graduate student, Oliver. No chemistry whatsoever! I won't even get to Elio's creepy searching of Olivier's closet. I can't finish. Not worthy of a credit!
Wealthy socialite Olivia Barton never imagined her fiancé would disappear on what was supposed to be a routine business trip. She's even more heartbroken and confused when a hired private investigator tracks him half a world away, to a seaside town in Colombia. But the country has recently been ravaged by a massive earthquake and deadly tsunami, shutting down outside communication and making travel all but impossible. Still, Olivia is determined to make it to Colombia to find the answers she so desperately seeks. What she needs is a guide - a mercenary.
I have always enjoyed Mia's books! My favorite being Leo. I couldn't resist and used my credit on Seek. I have listened to all of her books and enjoy her Sign of Love (Zodiac) series. It's a shorter listen for me, but I LOVED it! Leo is still my favorite, but I rank Seek in my top 4 of Mia's books. I was not disappointed with this suspenseful, Columbia adventure trip. A stranger from the past (from one of her other books) makes an appearance. The steam occurs towards 3/4 of the book. Yes, worth my credit!
For 10 years, Lady Daisy Meadows has been in love with Auric, the Duke of Crawford. Ever since his gallant rescue years earlier, Daisy knew she was destined to be his Duchess. Unfortunately, Auric sees her as his best friend's sister and nothing more. But perhaps, if she can manage to find the fabled heart of a duke pendant, she will win over the heart of her duke.
The Duke was too busy blaming himself for something in his past which kept him from living in the present. I like listening to historical fiction but I do enjoy steam. The encounter occurred around chapter 20 of 26. Not worthy of my credit. I prefer more steam unless I'm listening to YA.
I’m a good girl. I live by a code that can’t be bent or broken. It is my duty to my family to stay innocent and pure. To marry an Italian man. The stars are already aligned. But Nikolai Kozlov re-writes my destiny with five simple words. You belong to me now. He's Russian mafiya. A thief. A skilled liar with no moral boundaries. He is everything I have been taught to hate. A man who stands for nothing. A man who takes what he wants without a second thought. And what he wanted was me.
I didn't know there a book 5 in this series. It was not found in the category Romance - Suspense. I'm glad I found it! This is the story of Alexi's brother. It's Russian meets Italian mob. It's steamy good, and YES worth my credit!
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.
Low on the steam side but I liked her outlook. Worth a sale but not full credit.
Amber Walker and her older brother, Jake, have an abusive father. One night, her brother's best friend, Liam, sees her crying and climbs through her bedroom window to comfort her. That one action sparks a love/hate relationship that spans over the next eight years. What happens when Amber starts to view her brother's best friend a little differently? And how will her brother, who has always been a little overprotective, react when he finds out that the pair are growing closer?
I kept reading so much about this book and decided to listen. I was VERY disappointed. This was more Young Adult, and no steam. The sex was fade to black because this is YA which was okay had I known before reading. Personally, not worth a credit unless it's for YA material. Disappointed in adults (parents) in the book. Spoiler (look away now): How is it no charges ever pressed, really? NO, not worth it even for YA (due to lack of adult decisions). Amber was so timid but braves it at the end. No way!
When circumstances leave her with little choice but to volunteer for the Interstellar Bride Program, Hannah Johnson finds herself matched with not one but two mates. Her soon-to-be husbands are warriors of the planet Prillon, a world whose men are known far and wide for their prowess both in battle and in bed. Following her transport to a starship halfway across the galaxy, Hannah awakens in the presence of Zane Deston, the huge, fiercely handsome commander of the Prillon fleet.
I don't know why but this book didn't appeal. I liked the other Interstellar book but not this one. I didn't feel the characters connecting at all, not even during the sex scenes. Not worth credit or sale for me.
When you think about how easy it is to lose keys, phones, sunglasses and your dignity on social media, you might figure it'd be a cinch for me to ditch my V Card. You'd be wrong. At 25, I run a successful business, live in a fantastic apartment, and have fabulous friends to go out with any night of the week. And yet I'm still a card-carrying member of a club I don't want to belong to anymore. Good thing I know just the man for the deflowering job - my brother’s business partner and best friend.
As I prepared for a road trip, I decided I can't drive listening to drama. So at my first rest stop I scrolled to find this LB book with two great narrators, and downloaded. I'm so glad I did. It made for a relaxed drive listening to light, steamy romance. I like listening to this best friend's sister romance with low to no drama. It's part of the romance package, but it would sooo be worth a credit. I highly recommend.
Memphis Love knows three things. Money. Sex. Women. As long as it has a pond for him to dip his pole into, he's game. The small beach town he lives in doesn't offer much for job opportunities or, at least, lucrative ones. He relies on his body, the pole, and stage. Oh, and the after-hours clients. Iris, his best after-hours customer, takes him on a yearly cruise with her friends. Only thing is he didn't expect a little ray of sunshine on the ship this year. Raylan Moore has the power to rattle everything he once believed.
I should've stopped early in the first few chapters, but I thought it would get better. It didn't. There are lines like "for the love of dog bones" or "Holy bat cave Batman" which was too corny for me. No drama, insta-love of a gigalo for another woman while escorting a MILF on a cruise. I like Rom-com but not this one. A young college student might love this but not me. I'm glad I didn't use a credit (Romance page) because it is not credit worthy.
Dane was her first kiss and the only man she ever loved...until their marriage crashed and burned. Now Audra has built a quiet life for herself running a flower shop she's put her whole heart into. But Audra is left reeling when an unexpected circumstance brings Dane back into her world. He's still as breathtaking as he ever was, and he still affects her more than any man she's ever known. Yet learning to trust him again could be a matter of life and death....
It started out interesting, then the plot thickens and then thickens again. Leo is still my favorite of MS books but I'm glad I was able to listen to Dane's Storm as part of the romance package. I also like strong women in books. I am finding many books from this package, I would like to listen to over and over again in months/years to come. Narration by both fantastic!
