Is it really possible to love one's enemies? That's the question that sparked a fascinating and, at times, terrifying journey into the heart of the Middle East during the summer of 2008. It was a trip that began in Egypt, passed beneath the steel-and-glass high-rises of Saudi Arabia, then wound through the bullet-pocked alleyways of Beirut and dusty streets of Damascus, before ending at the cradle of the world's three major religions: Jerusalem.
Although things have changed a lot between the Middle East and the United States, the insights into the mindsets of the Muslim world view were educational and reminded me that people of different cultures are not so very different after all. The parable of Nicole was helpful as well. One person can make a difference. What will you choose.....fear or love?
Zigzagging the country in a mini-Winnie means endless adventure, and Maxie McNabb is always up for something new. So she and her dog, Stretch, head for the heat of New Mexico, where Maxie plans to learn how to weave. But everything changes for the sleepy town when a local woman attempts suicide. A casualty of her husband's mid-life crisis, she was replaced by a newer, sexier model. And to top it off, a sleazy conman has set his sights on her.
Wonderful story, especially for those of us who are experiencing our own "Tooth of Time" moments. How I long to meet up with Maxie & Stretch on the road and share a cup of tea, along with warm conversation. a must read
