I agree with the other reviewers. Charles Martin creates characters and situations that pull the reader in. This book's main character is a Vietnam vet. Since my high school and college years were during that AWFUL time in our country's history, I was even more drawn in.

Adam Verner performed this brilliantly--I will look to see what other books he has read. It is always a pleasure to find either a new author or performer; this was the first of Mr. Verner's performance I have listened to.

All fans of Charles Martin's work should add this book to their reading list!

American Rebecca Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister, Lacey, has always been the romantic who fantasized about glamour and royalty, fame and fortune. Yet it's Bex who seeks adventure at Oxford and finds herself living down the hall from Prince Nicholas, Great Britain's future king. And when Bex can't resist falling for Nick, the person behind the prince, it propels her into a world she did not expect to inhabit, under a spotlight she is not prepared to face.

I always enjoy listening to Ms Whelan's performances. This was a great performance as usual. The story was well written and not totally predictable. The characters are people one would want to know. They were well formed personalities and the story flowed well. I hope this is not the last book from her.

This was very well written. Jude is a recovering addict, served a prison sentence, and ended up back home. Facing the town where "everyone knows your name and sins" is a tough path. Ms Bowen did a good job of showing the difficult life for a character with these issues. She makes the reader want the Jude character to succeed, and to get the girl.

I nearly didn't start this series became it has so many books. However, I have been enjoying this series so much that I find I need to pace myself and spread the reading out. I find the development of the characters so well done, I wish that I could spend time in Virgin River. I listened to the Thunder Point series (7 books) first and found the same feeling, that at a book's end I felt I knew these people.

Although this is book 1 of the series, Ms. Carr doesn't leave cliffhangers in her series--each book can be read as a stand alone book.

Come meet the people who live and pass through Virgin River!
