Would you consider the audio edition of Shades of Earth to be better than the print version?

Yes. I read the first to books of the Across the Universe series and I loved them. I had an extra credit on Audible so I chose to download Shades of Earth. I was so glad I did! What a fantastic job Tara and the boy who read for Elder did! (BTW, why are they not crediting him with the Narration??) They bring the characters to life! Their voices could not have been more perfect! The landing of the shuttle was absolutely breathtaking!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Elder! I ached for him in ways and cheered him on in others. For someone this young to have so many decisions to make and to have such an open mind considering his life. He was just a great character.

What does Tara Carrozza bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Sympathy, strength, heartache, hope, love... I guess all the things are they when you read it, but to have the voice of someone else read it... When they do as great a job as she has, is like validating the character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no!! I wanted to drag it out as long as I could. I didn't want it to end. lol

Any additional comments?

I hope they make a movie out of these books! I think it is a great concept!

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

This is what happened: I met him at the candy store. He turned and smiled at me and I was surprised enough to smile back. This was not a children's candy store, mind you, this was the kind of place you went to buy expensive imported chocolate truffles for your boss' wife because you felt guilty for having sex with him when you were both at a conference in Milwaukee.

Would you try another book from Megan Hart and/or Elenna Stauffer?

yes

Have you listened to any of Elenna Stauffer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not. I thought she did an OK job. Her voice is a little too matter of fact all of the time though. A bit forceful. I understand that the character was rough around the edges, but I don't know that the voice had to be so dominate all the time.

Any additional comments?

I don't know it just felt a little cold to me. I'm not sure if it was the story or the performance. It just never really felt HOT or intense and the sex sceens were really quick. It was just OK

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! And I already have to many! I recommend all of Molly Harper books to people I know. This book is really no different from her others. Sure, the story is completely different; however HER brilliant formula is there! The perfectly flawed main characters, the totally screwed up family, the laugh out loud wit and of course the exceptional narration by Amanda Ronconi. I truly find myself angry, giggling, sad, turned on... I guess, living the emotions of the character as the author intends you to do, but is not often achieved. When I find this I devour every one of their books. In Molly Harper’s case, I just truly enjoy a good time!

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Reading the book yourself would be fantastic! However Amanda Ronconi does an excellent job! She has definitely done her homework on all the books she narrates and does not just "READ" them. She is acting them. The emotions are spot on! The only thing I struggle with is she could improve on her male voices. I can get past it though because I think she does so well in every other aspect.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Believe me, you will feel ever emotion these characters go through. You will be angry, but you will crack up too! You will find yourself smiling while listing through most of it.

Get it!
