After a painful loss, Cady Moreland is coming to Magdalene to start the next chapter of her life. A chapter that began 18 years ago but had a heartbreaking ending. The time in between was full of family and friendship, but Cady could never get the man she fell in love with all those years ago out of her heart. Coert Yeager has learned to live without the girl who entered his life right when she shouldn't and exited delivering a crippling blow he never would have suspected. The time in between was full of failing to find what he was missing...and life-altering betrayal.

Of the three books in this series, this was by far my least favorite. I think the main reason for that was the narrator. The whiney constant breathiness was rather annoying, and the character voice definition wasn't like I had come to expect with the narrator of the first two books on the series. The story itself was ok, and it was nice to have some loose ends of the whole series tied up in the end.

John Ceepak, a former MP just back from Iraq, has just joined the Sea Haven police department. The job offer came from an old Army buddy who hoped to give Ceepak at least a summer's worth of rest and relaxation to help him forget the horrors of war. I was so excited to listen to this book after finishing the first in the series which was great. I was rather disappointed for the first few chapters with the story which seemed to be focused on making more of a statement about agriculture than on telling a story. As a born and raised farmer, I didn't appreciate that, and almost stopped listening. Elizabeth also seemed more stiff and not the great character that was in the first book. About mid book, the story picked up and E came back. I would liked to have seen more of Ezra in the book as well. As in the first book, fantastic narration!

This is my first book by Mr. Eskens, and I'm impressed. Predictable it is not. I audibly gasped a couple of times because I didn't expect the twist in the plot, which I appreciate in a mystery type novel. I thought the character development was great and improved the story. The narration was very appropriate for the story, and character voices were good. I'll be sure to look for more books from this author!

While I was a little disappointed that Reacher didn't get to Virginia in this book, it was a good one. As always Dick Hill did a great job of bringing the story to life. Plenty of action, and Reachers typical manner of taking care of the bad guys. Mr. Child has a way of making me always root for the underdogs, and this book was no exception. I still love Reacher, even if he did finally get his nose broken.
