I’m really trying to like this series but, it is so predictable and there are so many cheesy lines. In Addition, Anthony Ferguson, the narrator, does not do women’s voices well. He also does not narrate sensual scenes well and his speech does not come across sexy, at all.

The beginning of this book was kind of slow. The introduction of the setting and characters isn’t always exciting but, this book seemed to drag a bit longer than it need be. However, are the plot picked up I found that I really enjoyed the tale. I’m excited for the next book, in the series.
As far as the narration, I’ve never liked this narrator’s version of female voices. Other than that, he does a good job.

The midnight breed series is one of my all time favorite so I was really looking forward to this book. Unfortunately, it was only so-so. There just wasn’t enough action and I guess I really missed all the characters from The Order. Hopefully other books in this spinoff will include the order.
The narrator was another disappointment, for me, Hillary Huber is so good that the bar was set high. This narrator doesn’t seem comfortable with the intimate scenes and it detracts from the story. He also doesn’t do female voices very well. Perhaps if he was paired with a female for dual narration. Despite all my disappointment, I know I will continue to get these books, as they come out, cause I love me some Breed Vampires.

This wasn’t the greatest paranormal romances I’ve ever listened to but, it was entertaining, overall. It just seemed to have some slow spots, in the plot, and I found my mind drifting. The narration was ok except the male voices weren’t very masculine. I’m not sure if I will continue the series or not, I’m going to think on it a bit.

Other reviewers have compared these books to The Black Dagger Brotherhood but, the only thing these two series have in common is the narrator. Although this series is entertaining it is not near the level of BDB. For some listeners, that may be a good thing. This series isn’t as violent, the sexual content is much milder and the language is much cleaner. I have read reviews for the BDB in which these things were the very reasons why they did not enjoy the series; so this may be their perfect fit. Along with the bad things, however, this series does not have the character development or emotional depth of BDB either. In my opinion, this is a definite weakness, of this series. That being said, this is an entertaining, light listen that won’t have you crying in public. Of course, this is my personal opinion and I’m sure there are those who would disagree.

Sergeant Duncan O'Conner has seen it all before. Beautiful erotic dancer murdered at home, no suspect, no motive. But there's one clue: She's missing her heart. It's enough to make the hard-bitten Kansas City cop enlist the help of a necro - one of the dead-channeling freaks who live in the domed city of nearby Valhalla. It's a long shot, but desperate crimes call for desperate measures. Unlike the other "high-bloods" in Valhalla, Callie Brown considers her abilities a gift, not a curse. But when she reads the dancer's final thoughts, she senses a powerful presence blocking her vision. This is no ordinary homicide. This is the work of a legendary necromancer who controls souls.

Let me start by saying that, I have officially added a new favorite male narrator to my list; right below Sebastian York. Mr. Durant has a panty melting voice.(sigh)

As for the novel, it was totally predictable. Almost every phase of the plot was predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Yes, there were a few dorky lines.(I just shook my head and continued on) This book wasn’t nearly as emotionally deep as Rev’s story but, sometimes it’s nice to get through a book without swollen eyes.
Is this a great piece of literature? No, sorry, it’s not. It is a feel-good romance with a few bumps in the road.

This novel is set around an ugly element, of the world; sex trafficking. Therefore there are scenes that include rape, pediatric sodomy and extreme violence against woman. In addition, there are torture scenes. Therefore, those with triggers beware. Wrapped up in all that ugly, is a touching story of two survivors refusing to allow their past to dictate their future or define their self image. The H/h become their own group therapy, and through bitter revelations, their souls begin to heal. This part of the book is well thought out and written. Unfortunately, the author forgets that our Hero is a President of a 1% MC club and is supposed to be an over protective, alpha male. Instead, she turns him into a pussy.(forgive the language) I’m not sure what happens but, all of the Sudden, the women, in the club, start informing their “old Men”, how the club is going to handle the situation. Yeah, I know, most MC clubs would tell the women, that it is, Club Business and go paint your nails or something. Nope, not kidding. Anyway, the touching moments are so good, that it makes this book worth the time you’ll spending listening/reading it.just overlook the weak parts of novel and enjoy the romantic ride,

Although there was four very violent scenes, in the story, overall, this is a very calm outlaw MC club. It made for a romance with very little angst and a club with no intraclub drama . The men in this club are very considerate of their girls feeling and the term, “club business “, was never spoken. The Old Ladies are able to get their way by playing head games with their old men without any consequences. There wasn’t even any Sweet Butt-Old Lady Drama. There club parties didn’t even include public sex. To top it off, the Heroine convinced the Hero to influence the club( He is the Sgt at Arms, not the president) to totally change the nature of their Club business, before she would agree to marry him. He rolled over and bared his throat to her. Ok, you get the point. Despite the unrealistic aspect of the club, there was still many touching interactions between the Heroine and Hero, some hot sex scenes and a pretty good plot. Overall, it was a feel good romance and sometimes that is exactly what a romance lover needs.
