  • S3 Ep214: Julie Jensen: Psychological Warfare (Part 1)
    Jun 7 2024
On the late afternoon of December 3, 1998, 63-year-old Mark Jensen called 911 from his Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin home to report that his wife, 40-year-old Julie Jensen, was found dead in bed. When the police arrived, Mark suggested Julie might have died from an allergic reaction to new medication, he said she had been sick for a few days before her death. However, as the police looked around, they grew suspicious about the circumstances surrounding Julie’s death. They called in the medical examiner’s office and the district attorney’s office, both of which agreed that something was off. An investigation was opened, and it was soon discovered that for weeks before her death, Julie was deeply concerned that Mark, her husband of 14 years, was going to murder her.

  • S3 Ep212: The Menendez Brothers: Monster Behind the Mask (Part 7)
    May 31 2024
Beverly Hills, located just southwest of the Hollywood Hills, was and still is a place that the rich, famous and glamorous choose to make their homes. Known for its opulence and luxury, the homes in Beverly Hills are some of the most expensive in the United States, with some properties worth tens of millions of dollars. But behind the country clubs, cocktail hours and shopping trips, there was something much darker brewing in a high end Beverly Hills neighborhood. On August 20th, 1989, business executive Jose Menendez and his wife Kitty were brutally murdered while sitting in the living room of their sprawling Mediterranean style mansion, and what seemingly made this tragedy worse was the fact that their two son’s, Lyle and Erik, were the ones to make the gruesome discovery of their bodies. Suddenly orphaned, the Menendez brothers were initially looked at with sympathy, but soon they would be on trial for the murder of their parents. Lyle and Erik didn’t deny that they had taken their parents' lives, but according to them it was because they were scared and broken down after a lifetime of abuse. At the time, most people believed this was a fabricated excuse, and the prosecution gave greed and money as the true motive. A tragedy and trial played out for the world on television, ending with both Erik and Lyle confined at the Richard Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego for life, with no chance of parole. Recently, newly discovered evidence and testimony has raised questions of whether Erik and Lyle were being honest about the constant state of stress and fear their parents forced them to live under.

obsessed

I absolutely love this podcast and honestly wish they made more recordings but I know they're super busy. the amount of information that goes into each episode is incredible and I love the conversations that Derrick and Stephanie engage in. theyre both very good at keeping everything neutral and unbias and basing theyre episodes on facts!

and the theme music gives me total spy vibes and I love it!

Great show!

I love every episode! I started watching Stephanie's videos about 3 months ago and figured out this podcast existed, I wasn't sure I'd like it at first but I LOVE it! You guys do a great job and go so in depth. I love the back and forth discussion you have and when Derrick plays devils advocate. I have burned through the entire library of shows in the last 6 shifts at work, though, so now I have to wait each week like a peasant for new episodes. Keep up the great work guys! #day1er

Stellarly researched deep dives with the receipts!

I love listening to these two get deep into the facts and work to suss out the larger implications. The timelines and details are meticulously laid out. They balance each other well-- sometimes agreeing to disagree but always leaving the listener with something to think about. It is refreshing how much time they are willing to spend with a case to really cover all of the facets. I highly recommend the podcast!
