Publisher's summary

I went to an auction to buy a racehorse and left with a wife.

Cameron: I celebrated a little too much after I purchased a racehorse favored to win the Kentucky Derby. I let down my guard and the next thing I know, I woke up beside the daughter of the man my father hates.

Married.

I should divorce her immediately, only she knows everything about the horse racing world and I know, well, nothing. We also made quite a scene at the auction and everyone thinks we're in love.

We agree to stay married until the season is over.

But pretending to be in love is a lot of fun as we start winning races and give into all kinds of temptations.

Now the season is over. She's having my baby. And there's no way I'm letting her go.

The Cowboy’s Accidental Wife is part of the Wild Texas Heart Cowboy Series but can be listened to as a standalone. No cheating. No cliffhanger. HEA Guaranteed.

A Romance That’s Off to the Races

Saddle up for a story that is full of wild hearts, but even wilder nights, racing action, and passion.
This is the third installment in the “Wild Hearts of Texas” series and I have not read the others yet. But from this one alone, I’m eager to do so and continue. All the characters are connected, but I feel these could just as easily be stand alone too,
Our story begins with Cam, the heir to a ranch dynasty who has to return to take care of things when his father gets terribly ill. His buddy and dad’s horse trainer tells him a horse his dad wanted, Blue Lake, is suddenly up for auction. He goes there and sees Lake, the daughter of his family’s rivals, The Sutherlands. But his thoughts aren’t on the prized horse, but the beautiful woman with the blue wavy hair, dazzling smile, and dress that is making this good Texas boy want to become wild.
And so they do…with too many cinnamony black-eyed Susan drinks.
And now they woke up married.
Oops.
Or is it…fate?
I adored how it depicted the world of horse racing. Blue Lake was lovely and I cared for him as much as Cam and Lake. The characters were all charming and kept your interest. The interactions between Cam and Lake were cute or steamy in all the right ways, with some decent tension too. I loved their moments with his niece Chloe too.
Lake had a good head on her shoulders and I am glad she finally got a chance to shine doing the job she loved, a chance her family never gave her. And Cam tried so hard to be a good ole’ Southern boy; it’s hard not to like him.
This book I felt also dove well into what it’s like to go through the varying waves of emotions of if you feel you’re disappointing a parent or your family. I can’t say it is fully resolved, but having characters go through something that affects many deep down is uplifting in its own right.
There were a few good little twists too. And the ending! Ah!
Lexi Evans and Gregory Salinas both had excellent Southern drawls and excelled at an array of voices and intonations. They made the story gallop forward to be a winner with their performances.

LOVE Cameron and Lake

Cameron Renner is Jamie's manager and now, he is in charge of the family farm after his father's stroke. Realizing his father wants to move from show horses to race horses, he gets word the Sutherland family is auctioning off their prized racehorse and is determined to be the highest bidder.

Lake Sutherland's father has left the family in debt causing them to auction off their prized racehorse. Finding out Cameron will be at the auction and crushing on him since they were kids, Lake is determined to catch his eye. Now that Cameron has won Blue Lake, he has his sights set on Lake. After spending time getting to know each other and drinking heavily, the wake up the next morning married and have no memory of the prior nights events. Once Lake's brother Rafe explains the reasoning for their marriage; not wanting to draw unwanted attention, they decide it's best to stay married since Blue Lake is the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. They want the focus on Blue Lake and not them.

Cameron makes Lake the racing manager since she knows the ins and outs of the horserace business. Spending time together going from one racetrack to another, Cameron realizes he wants Lake to be a part of his life forever. He doesn't want their marriage to end even more so now that she's pregnant. Finding out their marriage isn't legal since it wasn't filed with the county, Cam and Lake decide to keep that information hidden. A confrontation with Cam's father leaves Lake shaken up and she decides to go back to her family home leaving Cam behind.

Being as the Renner's and Sutherland's are enemies, will Cam's father keep them apart or will Cam and Harper get the HEA they both deserve. Awesome narration by Gregory Salinas and Lexi Evans. Great series by Deborah Garland.

A drunken unplanned marriage? Or fate ....

A drunken unplanned marriage? Or fate taking the reins? This story started out under crazy circumstances, but Cam and Lake embraced the crazy and fell for each other. But the path was littered with some landmines beyond the fact their fathers' known hatred for each other. I enjoyed the story and getting updates on Jamie, Harper, and Chloe. The narrators brought the story to life.

Cam and Lake

4/5 ⭐
2/5 🌶️
5/5 🎧

I'm loving this series by Deborah Garland, these cowboys are the freaking sweetest and hottest and I'm obsessed with every last one of them. I think my favorite part is how low angst they are, there is some tension there and will he do the right thing? but they always do and it's without hesitation, making me swoon.

I know nothing about horses outside of what I learned in my one year of 4H twenty-five years ago, but it felt like Deborah knew what she was talking about which was really nice. It feels like she probably grew up around horses and cowboys and that's why she decided to write about them. I loved the story surrounding Blue Lake here, it was really well done and interesting to read.

Cam and Lake were super sweet together, I adored their romance and honestly just wanted more, more, more. I wouldn't have minded another 100 pages to really get more into some one on one moments with them, and not just the spicy ones, although I wouldn't complain about more of those either.

Gregory Salinas and Lexi Evans are two of my favorites and they did so well here, I loved listening to this book. I'm so excited to see what's next for Wild Texas Hearts.

A Wild Ride!

This one was a wild ride that I couldn’t stop listening to! Cam and Lake grew up on neighboring ranches with father’s that were enemies. When Cam is forced into filling in for his dad at the ranch him and Lake cross paths at a horse auction. When one night they can’t remember seems to have changed everything. It may have been a drunken mistake or it could have been alcohol reducing inhibitions and letting them get out of their way. Cam and Lake have a lot of obstacles and things they have to work through to get to their HEA but it’s so worth it! I loved that Jamie and Chole were able to be there to support Cam as he had been such a support system for them. I love when characters you get attached to in one book make appearances and you get updates in the series. If you’re a horse fan or horse racing fan I think you’ll enjoy how much these characters love their horses and the bond they share. Between the narration and storyline I could not stop listening!

Really good

The Cowboy’s Accidental Wife is book #2 in the Wild Texas Hearts series. It’s a cowboy, accidental pregnancy romance.

Cam and Lake’s book had great world building. The chemistry was so good and I loved watching their connection grow as the story went on. Just the right amount of drama, steam and sweet moments.

Gregory Salinas and Lexi Evans did a really nice job bringing this world to life.

A heartbreaker that breathes fire .....

A heartbreaker that breathes fire and warms the soul. Garland pushes emotions outside of their comfort zone with Cameron and Lake. The Cowboy's Accidental Wife breaks the rules of love in order to find it's happily every after. From the unpredictable to the irresistible, Salinas and Evans master not just the senses, but the heart as well.

The Cowboy's Accidental Wife

The Cowboy's Accidental Wife is the 3rd book in the Wild Texas Hearts series. This book is about Cameron and Lake is told from both of their points of view.

Cameron and Lake are part of rival families. Lake's family is selling a derby horse, and Cameron shows up to place a bid. He ends up drunk, and ends up with the horse and a marriage to Lake.

Now, they have to figure out what to do with their marriage, and dueling families. Will they stay married as time goes on? Or will they decide the marriage isn't for them.

This book is my favorite so far in this series. I can not wait for the next book, after the epilogue and seeing a sneak into what happens in the next book.

Dramatic romance at Triple Crown horse racing

Deborah Garland has delivered another great romance with her trademark roller coaster emotions and well-researched settings. I love all the accurate details of the horse racing industry and what racing managers do. Cam and Lakeland were immediately likeable, and I rooted for their HEA. once I started this novel I just couldn't stop listening. Excellent narration, but they talk a bit slowly, so I thought listening at 1.2x speed was perfect. Very good southern accents that might be accurate Texas accents.
