He is a man alone, a drifter haunting the back roads and highways of America. Every town he leaves behind preserves but a glimmer of him, the cool, handsome man with the teardrop scar whose presence fades with the sunlight. But all that changes when a brutal assault forces him to play Good Samaritan for a beautiful young woman, placing him squarely in the crosshairs of a vengeful ex-con. Caught between duty to his fellow man and the anonymity of life on the road, the Samaritan struggles to resist the forces drawing him into a shadowy world of violence, intrigue, and deception.

He saw in the rusted mirror the man he’d become, new scars and all. His wife killed, his family shattered, a man takes to the road, wandering lost and alone - except for the comfort of a kind of woman he can’t deny. When a tryst in the shadow of Arizona’s red rocks leads to murder, the man sets out to clear his name and corner the killer, unaware that a madman is on his trail - and the trail of his estranged daughter.
I enjoyed this book a lot, right up until it's abrupt and unsatisfying ending and despite a very irritating narrator.. In fact, it could easily be a 4..Show More » star book with a good narrator. It has a tremendously attractive hero, a deluded and entertaining cast of misfits, and an entirely unique story line. Let's just say if he'd make a series with these characters, I'd keep listening. « Show Less
