This tells the story of 3 different characters. We see Colin first. He is in the midst of a robbery when he first sees the Zombies. He is now stuck in..Show More » a house with rapidly dwindling supplies and no chance of escape. Then there is Sara, a personal trainer who is at work when the outbreak happens. Finally Hank, a school janitor who is in the process of cleaning the school when he sees the Zombies. He phones home and his wife tells him that she will come for him. Hank sets about cleaning the school of the infected while waiting. Each character has his/her own troubles to deal with and each has to try stay alive. The final installment sees all 3 characters come together. Can they all survive?
Now, while I enjoyed this book tremendously, I did feel like I was missing something. Like maybe I started at book 2 instead of 1 because we don't get to see how the outbreak happened. We get no information at all about the where, how, and why. I think if we had that, then this would of been 5 stars.
Character wise. Colin was a bit whiny and annoying. Sara was capable and Hank was great. Each of them has a story to tell and each of them developed throughout. Plot wise, it was fast paced and entertaining. It didn't bring anything new to the genre but it was like reading an old favourite, comfortable and enjoyable.
Ben Kass was clear and concise and I enjoyed his narration. He gave each character their own personalities and I had no problem with seeing who was talking.
