Before I explain the 1 star, I will note that the performance itself was well done. Props to the narrator.
As to the book itself, it turns ou..Show More »t to have a blatant Christian agenda despite being marketed as secular. Do this you crave oversimplified characters and a black-and-white world of rigid thinking? Do you gravitate towards stereotypes like the dutiful wife cooking all family meals or tattooed/dyed hair people representing all that is evil in the world? Would you like to feel morally superior because of your Christian identity? Does blatant, ubiquitous Christian messaging trump believable characters/events? Do you have "the calling" to foster a child but need the reassurance that it's OK to inflict your religious beliefs on them? If so, this book is for you.
Truly horrible, even for christian fiction. I would normally keep such disdain for a book to myself, but since the author is being deceptive with marketing, I'm must speak up, lest some unknowing child receive this book.
