i feel there were two problems in this book for me : 1- too much self dialog , and self appreciation 2- an instant, lacking ,and sometime bor..Show More »ing love so i would probably change the two things above
So Carlie is back and as sassy as ever!! In this one, a circus comes to town and body count starts to rise! Could the two be connected? Well, that's s..Show More »omething Carlie, Gran and Wulfric have to find out! Along the way they encounter vampires, ghosts, shifters and did I mention... clowns!!! Out of all the bad, I still think clowns are the worst!!! Ugh!
Carlie is such an amazing character! She is strong, sassy and snarky, all of which make her a strong and likable lead. I love how she is so sure of herself and her abilities. She knows what she has to do and isn't afraid to do it! I also love her relationship with Gran. She respects and looks up to her. They do so well as a team. One thing I love about these books is the characters! They are all extremely well written and developed, and I love that the author isn't afraid to make such strong female heroines! Wulfric may be there, but he doesn't hold a candle to Carlie or Gran!
Plot wise, this was fast paced, entertaining, action packed and kept my attention till the end. The author has created a magical world filled with all types of things. The idea of the circus and what it holds was awesome!! A circus is a mysterious place anyway but add in the author's imagination and you have Halfway Bitten ;)
In all, a great second book and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I can't wait to see what's next for our two leading ladies, and what happens to Wulfric!! Bring on book 3!!
Erin Spencer makes for a brilliant Carlie. She brings across her spirit and sassiness perfectly! She also makes for an awesome Gran!! She was easy to listen to and read the book great. I hope she is narrating book 3
After the ending of book 2, I dived into this one as soon as I could! I needed to see what happened to Wulfric!!! Well, what a read! I don't want to s..Show More »poil something so this part of the synopsis sums it up pretty good... "Can Carlie solve an ancient crime, defeat a ruthless killer and save the love of her life from a vampire's curse without burning the waffles?" That's basically what this book is about, but also so much more!! There's Exit, a man stuck in time, a quest to find the warlock and Carlie must try to save Wulfric, all the while trying to stay true to being a white witch!
Once again, the author has created an action packed and addicting read! I loved the addition of Exit in this one. He has been asleep for a centuary do to a spell cast upon him. Now awake, he is eager to find answers and who better to help him than Carlie!! His biggest question is what happened to his wife, Reina!
Poor Carlie. I felt for her in this one. She wants to save everyone, but at what cost? Is love worth turning from the light? Plus she has to deal with questions and secrets coming at her all the time!! Despite this, she is still her sassy and fun self though.
The plot was once again, a doozy!! So much happening and so many twists! It's a book that will grip you from the start and not let go. This book, and indeed, the whole series is a fun, emotional, adventurous read. Halfway is a place where everyone should visit!! Come for the waffles. Stay for the magic.
Again, Erin Spencer did an amazing job with the narration. She has such a pleasant and easy to listen to voice, that the story was effortless to listen to. I love how she portrays Carlie!!
