The setting is beautiful and remote, the charact..Show More »ers are few, but fleshed-out, the writing is easy and flowing. The mystery was traditionally written, more British than Scandinavian. Yet, it was also predictably written. The story starts strong but just seems to run out of steam from the middle point to the end.
The police don't solve it. The solution just happens. The narrator has a wonderful pacing and voices for women and children. The voices for men are hard to sit through.
I have always admired the European view of vacations - taking August off at all costs. Well, I finally found the flaw. What happens to a murder case if it happens the last weeks of July and everyone goes on vacation? Lesson learned -- don't get murdered in late Summer in Europe.
