This started out with such great potential.....The sex was hot, the power exchange seemed eminent...and then......Show More »splat. Before I could saw "Hold the fish & chips!!" I was spiraling into the depths of a grown woman's whiney mostly internal dialogue and a man's brooding non-communicative obsessive love that we generally only see in books featuring sparkly vampires.
By the second half of the book I was so tired of listening to the indecision that I caught myself just tuning the book out......I would snap back into it with a "OOOHHHH that's hot" and within minutes I was trying to figure out what happened in the last 5 minutes of Supernatural that my DVR cut off.
Maybe I liked it, maybe I didn't....maybe I need it and that's really what the problem is...I'm putting it down, no I'm finishing it right now no, I'm throwing it out...no.... Ya, you get the idea.
He is very tall. His white shirt is casually rolled at the sleeves, but he still wears a black tie, loosely knotted and hanging down the front of a br..Show More »oad chest."
"His dirty blonde hair looks like he's half attempted to get it into some semblance of a style but given up. His eyes are sludgy green, but bright and way too intense, and the stubble covering his square jaw does nothing to conceal the handsome features beneath it. He's lightly tanned and just... Oh God, He's devastating."

I'm not even sure what to say about this book. I heavily defended the first book in this series (against the many bad reviews) because I felt like he ..Show More »was relentlessly pursing her because he knew that she wanted him, and she was just too afraid to admit it to herself. That book had lots of super hot sexual chemistry, and I enjoyed the funny banter in Ava's relationships with her friends. This book had none of that. It was like watching a train wreck slowly and painfully. It was actually difficult to get through at times.
Jesse goes far beyond anything that's remotely normal or attractive in his obsessive controlling of Ava. It was a little scary even. And Ava, good heavens, he apparently screwed her into the realm of brain damage. Someone could not be as crazy stupid and blind as she was. She couldn't even leave the room Jesse was in without him flipping his lid about not being able to touch her. Did this never throw up a red flag to her? Also gone was the warm funny relationship she had with her roommate Kate. What happened to Kate? She joined The Manor and forgot Ava existed. She hated Ava's prior boyfriend, yet she continued to watch Jesse control and manipulate Ava, but kept telling Jesse how much she loved him. I didn't get it at all.
I knew that Jesse had a dark past lurking to be found, but I didn't even really understand that. Yeah, so he lived a wild, out of control playboy lifestyle for most of his life. It just didn't seem like something that would cause someone to be as deeply disturbed as he obviously was. I was glad to see Ava finally take a stand and make Jesse answer some questions. I'm not sure I would have gone to the lengths that she did. I think at that point I would have been running, screaming for the hills. I can't really figure out why she loves him so much. There's never been any real love story. They don't even talk to each other much. It's Jesse's outrageous demands, Ava defying him, then insane crazy fighting, followed up by him screwing her until she relents, and that's just about it. That about sums up the first 29 chapters.
The final chapters of this book did shed some light on Jesse's behavior. It was able to pull my attention back around because I was really about to fall completely out of favor with this book. I did like that it ended on a happy note. I'm just hoping that the next book will go in a different direction. I don't think that I can subject myself to another book like this one. There was nothing attractive about Jesse Ward in this book. Gone was the sizzling chemistry. It was all just very disturbing.
Edita Brychta was great again with the delivery of the story.
I will probably listen to the third book of the dysfuntional relationship.
First off, Ava and Jesse are one messed up couple. And Jesse is more than just a dominating alpha male, he is all sorts of crazy and twisted. I found ..Show More »myself screaming at Ava for being so stupid for hanging on to this relationship….seriously?? He might be rich and handsome but he is totally cray-cray! From hiding birth control bills to forcing a marriage proposal via sex… It was all just so over-the-top.
This book was just as repetitive as the first one and did drag on and on with the sex, fighting, drama, etc. When there was an actual plot it was very good. I have such mixed feelings about this book. It was like the proverbial train wreck….I couldn’t look away, or in this case I couldn’t stop listening.
Compared to others in this genre, I thought it was better than the Crossfire or Stark trilogies but doesn’t compete with the Blackstone Affair. I’m certain I will get the third book simply because I can’t stand not knowing how it all ends.
I LOVED this last book. It was like a whole new world compared to books 1 and 2. Suddenly, there are things actually happening. Not all issues are res..Show More »olved, that is evident in the first parts of this book, but finally we are moving and progressing forward (with a couple steps backwards here and there). Jesse is finally becoming a little more human and we understand him a little more. He's less exasperating because he's shown more of himself. I think that if books 1 and 2 could have been combined into 1 book, it might have been helpful. I am just glad that I continued to read so I could get here to enjoy Jesse and Ava together. By the way, HOLY CRAP on the things that are revealed in this book. Who knew 1 person could have sooo many secrets?? Some of which I never even saw coming. I think the last book got better as I read as I listened. I gave book one 4 stars, book two 3 stars and book three 5 stars. So, if you are wondering if you should continue after book 1 or even book 2...I say, forge ahead, it is worth it

First, I really think the narrator did a fantastic job with these books! This is the final installment in this series and what a crazy wild ride!! I'v..Show More »e been looking forward to losing myself once again in Jesse & Ava’s sexy world and it absolutely did not disappoint. For me, this erotic romance trilogy stands above ALL others. This Man Confessed was everything I was hoping for!! This was a lengthy book but perfectly paced. This Man Confessed is not without the shock and awe that we also experience in the two prior books. It’s truly a wild, bumpy and emotional ride loaded with intrigue and shockers, undiluted lust and mind-bending sex plus a compulsive and intense love. Be prepared to be swept away by their story! So yes, this book is HOT! If you loved Jesse Ward in This Man or Beneath This Man, I will be astounded if you don't fall fan-crazy in love with him more in This Man Confessed. He truly is all pure, sexy, unadulterated alpha! All the Jesse secrets come out and new conflicts arise in their relationship. Rest assured, you will have a VERY difficult time putting this book down. When I was finished with this book, I felt completely satisfied. I had no unanswered questions, the epilogue was perfection. I am a little sad that Jesse and Ava’s story is over, but I was so happy with how it ended. This is one of my favorite trilogies. It’s intense, beautiful, emotional and full of drama! Obviously don't listen to this book if you haven't tackled the other two first, but if you love over the top crazy possessive alpha men with dark pasts who fall in love with a woman who tries them at every turn even though she's madly in love with him & fight multiple obstacles together, this is totally the series for you.
