The story was ruined by the narrator. She was fine on the storyline, but her voice for the characters was so awful that I was more focused on that tha..Show More »n on the story. I won't purchase any other audiobooks with this narrator.
Another much anticipated Linda Howard classic misinterpreted and bungled by narrator Brenda Sweeney. I am so disappointed. She reads like a preschool..Show More » teacher, giving the heroine a bimbo voice. And poor Honey, what she did to you. Sweeney's performance couldn't be more wrong. This book was written for and beloved by intelligent adults. Just a terrible audio.
PLOT: Spoiled/ Diva Michelle finds she owes HUNKY Rancher John Rafferty a fortune. How will he collect it? LOL
Michelle Cabot was raised pamp..Show More »ered and spoiled. She spent her days shopping and socializing with her snooty rich gal pals. On the death of her father she inherits his ranch only to find there is NO money and plenty of DEBT. Michelle discovers an IOU... her father "borrowed" $100,000 from HUNKY Rancher John Rafferty. With no way to pay the bills John and Michelle strike a "deal" with some of her land traded for the debt. John decides Michelle is not only gorgeous but he is VERY attracted to her. John has always been Michelle's unrequited love. the passion results in a blazing HOT affair.......When Michelle moves in....... John is now thinking about Michelle NIGHT and DAY...He can barely 'concentrate' on his ranch work......LOL..... Michelle has secrets of her own. She had been abused by her ex husband. When a mysterious car runs Michelle off the road she wonders..... could her ex husband be stalking her? John not only must protect Michelle but must earn her love and trust. This is an early Linda Howard and one of her better ones. The passion is HOT. Both John and Michelle are likeable and hold our interest. Amy Landon is excellent as the reader and clearly one of the BEST Dreamscape has so far. I give this 5 STARS all the way. Also try Duncan's Bride by Linda Howard available on audible. Look for White Lies by Linda Howard and Dreamscape in December.
Man with out a FACE~ early Howard suspense~ 3 STAR
PLOT: Jay is asked by the FBI to ID a badly injured man who COULD be her ex husband.
Jay is having a horrible day. She is fired from her job ..Show More »so her boss's flaky son could take her job and the FBI shows up at her door. They ask her to ID her ex husband "Steve"....and they have plenty of questions but give her few "answers." "Steve" is in a coma and covered in bandages. And under guard at Bethesda Naval Hospital no less. (before DNA)....the FBI agents take Jay there where she confirmed it IS Steve.
Enter Steve......in a coma and 'drawn" to the voice at his bedside (Jay) who helps calm him and deal the overwhelming pain. As he slowly comes out of the coma.....HIS heavily bandaged hands and face make Jay his LIFELINE for his physical and emotional recovery.
THE FBI enable Jay to remain by his side.Jay is very drawn to the CRANKY recovering man who has NO memory. *WARNING* (spoiler here) when the bandages are finally removed from his eyes after another surgery Jay realizes the man is NOT Steve. Why was Steven involved with a secret plot and why was he killed? and who is the man she is NOW in love with and WHY is he still under guard? this is a good early Linda Howard Romantic Suspense audiobook. Kell Sabin is loosely added to the mystery. Lesa Lockford is a good reader. NOT Howards best book but still entertaining the mystery is well done. I give it 3 STARS over all.
