I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. I don't know what the other reviewers were talking about with the narrato..Show More »r. Perhaps I got a revised edition of the story. She just read the book. I could tell when each of them was talking and no background noises. She also did not try to lower her voice to be Dax or any male character. I love stories where the H/h like each other from the beginning and we see how the romance progresses. If the author is not good at making the story go from dislike to love they should leave it alone. Ms. Stoker did a good job with this love at first sight. I like also that the suspense came from the outside. I also love it that neither of them was perfect. Yes, I like hunky guys but some of us not so perfect people fall in love also and after all there are only a few people in the world who fit some of those perfect molds. The rest of us are plain average people and we enjoy a great love life just like Dax and Mack. Loved the fact that all of the kid's names, as well as the parent's started with M. Funny!
I listened up to the last hour, but couldn't go further. The story itself is good; however, I prefer romances where there is real chemistry between t..Show More »he characters and that happens most often when the character's physical aspects and mental aptitude are similar. I could not fit Mickie and Cruz into that mold. I just did not like Mickie. I really did not think she and Cruz meshed, as the story implied. Cruz is the strong, handsome, type who seems to apply himself and is truly working toward the greater good. Mickie is described as not that pretty, college educated but with no real ambition, and no real hopes for her future. The story line would have been SO much better had Mickie been more compatible with Cruz.
I like it when I find a romance for people out of college. When I find one for adults in the 30's and 40's range can't resist. He is 42 and a hot co..Show More »wboy, she's 37 and a professional woman. Neither has been married. They are immediately attracted. She's gone to his ranch to cover for her friend with a photo shoot. It's for a calendar and they have found that most guys are more comfortable if a woman comes with the photographer. One look at each other and they know they want to know more.
The dating is fun, no games, just getting to know each other. She's a little surprised at his idea about sex while dating. Things are going along just fine until Laine goes missing.
I enjoyed the story, the narrator and the characters. This is a series, however, each couple's story stands alone. I did get the next book in the series and with probably get more.
I've got all of Susan Stoker's books on my kindle and also have them on audio. I just listened to the latest Stoker audio book with narrator Erin Mal..Show More »l on and enjoyed it. I highly recommend that you listen to the books in order for maximum enjoyment. Big hint. If you purchase the book first then wait a bit, the audio version is discounted. No need to use a credit or pay full price.
