Fallen Out is Book 1 of the Caribbean Adventure series. At 5 hours it is short for a novel but the other novels in the series are longer. The suspen..Show More »se is rather light. The 37 year old protagonist, Jesse McDermitt, recently retired from a career in the US Marines after which he bought a luxury boat and takes out fishing and other excursions from his dock in the Florida Keys. He manages to run across lots of bad guys as well as beautiful and friendly women. Nick Sullivan narrates wonderfully. This novel is nice, light listening.
Fallen Palm is the second novel in the 9 novel (so far) Caribbean Adventures/Jesse McDermitt series. It is set in the middle Florida Keys near the to..Show More »wn of Marathon. McDermitt is a retired US marine in early 40s who charters his boat for a living. He has built a house on a very small private island he owns. The repeat characters include his first mate Jimmy and an old Marine buddy along with his daughter who run a bar/restaurant. The genre of this novel is suspense thriller. The novel has characteristics of detective, Homeland Security, and military thrillers. The series is definitely worthwhile. Narrator Nick Sullivan who is among the best adds to the quality of the audiobooks in the Caribbean Adventures series.
Fallen Hunter is Book 3 in the Jesse McDermitt/Caribbean Adventures series by Wayne Stinnett. At this point I am committed to listening to all 9 nove..Show More »ls in the series. This series is a great find that I just happened to come across. McDermitt is a retired recon Marine sergeant now living in the middle Florida keys near Marathon. He has his own 2 acre island which is now well developed. He is also a member of a civilian military unit composed mostly of Navy SEALs that does special jobs for the US government. This novel is about taking down a group of Middle Eastern terrorists in a training camp in Cuba.
Stinnett does a great job of developing the repeating characters in the series. Nick Sullivan narrates the novels in this series. He is a good at narrating as George Guidall, Dick Hill, Will Patton, and maybe even Scott Brick.
I highly recommend this novel and this series. Although the series novels do not have to be read in order, the first two provide background information that is helpful in understanding the later stories.
Fallen Pride and the other 8 novels in the series are not great literature, but they are very entertaining suspense/military/espionage thrillers with ..Show More »vivid characters. I find them additive! Listen to the books in the order written for for maximum enjoyment. This is novel 4 in the series and once again the author removes/kills a key character. Nick Sullivan is becoming one of my favorite narrators. I remember him from Vince Flynn's early Mitch Rapp novels before George Guidall took over the Rapp franchise. Sullivan has improved since then.
There is a lot to like about this novel, but it does not quite justify a 5 star rating unlike novels 3 and 4 in this series. It is still a very worth..Show More »while military/espionage thriller. Jesse McDermitt finally establishes a relationship with his two daughters who he had not seen or heard from in almost 15 years. Narration is outstanding.
Book 6 in the wonderful Jesse McDermitt Caribbean Adventures series by Wayne Stinnett does not disappoint! Like other novels in the series this book ..Show More »is set in the middle Florida keys near Marathon. The characters are well developed and vivid. The suspense is intense. And Nick Sullivan's narration is perfect. Highly recommended, but start with Fallen Out, the first novel in the series. It only gets better from there.
Fallen Tide is the 8th novel in the Jesse McDermitt. These books, set in the middle Florida keys near Marathon, are fun listening. The characters ar..Show More »e very, very vivid and the suspense is intense. My review title refers to to McDermitt's partner, a Portuguese water dog. Nick Sullivan's narration is exceptionally good.
9th book in this wonderful action thriller series!
This may be the best novel in the Jesse McDermitt series. It is set in the coastal town of Beaufort SC rather than in the Florida keys. Beaufort is a..Show More » few miles north of Savannah GA and it is the location of both the US Marine training camp at Parris Island and the Hilton Head Island and Fripp Island resorts. (Author Pat Conroy lived in Beaufort and his novels are set there.) It is also the current home of Wayne Stinnett, the author. Like all of the books in this series the action and suspense occur on boats and on islands. Retired US Marine Jesse McDerrmitt is similar to Jack Reacher in his style and methods, except that he is wealthy. Narrator Nick Sullivan is superb. I highly recommend this series as well as the Charity Styles series by the same author.
